Cherry Blossom Park

A figure sat on a bench nearest the fountain. He wore a black jacket with golden buttons lining themselves down the front till it reached it's end. Two golden buttons held the cufflinks together just below his hands. He wore matching black pants with a belt that wrapped itself around his wast. A pair of round glasses sat on his face that protected his eyes as the blue hued color skimmed over the pages within the small red book he held in his hand. This was the only place he could go to actually study the book and it's pages in quiet without the sounds of something breaking or an idiot screaming.

Dawn sat near under a tree, writing. She wore jean shorts and a tang top with so many warm colors and pink ballet shoes.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw someone she recognized. She wasn't sure she should get up and say hi.

Lee slowly rose his right leg up and let it slid over to move itself over his left leg. He rose the book in his right hand so that the leg would be place without stopping the motion. He slowly leaned forward as he continued to read, he placed his right arm onto his right knee for support. He took his left hand and used it to turn the page of the book as he continued to read.

Dawn sighed a little nervous and got up and walked over to seem to be her friend from when she was little. But she wasn't really sure because she hasn't seen him in what seemed like ages.

"Lee?" She asked nervously. "It's Dawn." She smiled

Lee let his mind get swept away in the book as he was dead set on figuring out everything that it hid. That was until he heard someone call his name. He was about to get angry as he moved his thumb on the page and closed the book and lowered it. He turned his head to tell who ever it was to go away. That was until he heard her name. He paused as he spoke
"D-dawn?"

She smiled softly still nervous.

"Do you remember me?" She asked nervously holding her notebook tight to her chest.

Lee slowly turned toward the girl as he tried to re-collect himself for a moment. He slowly moved his red book down to his side. He rose his left hand up to the side of his head as he rubbed it
"I-I think I do...."

Dawn smiled a little, it has been a long time so she kind of figured he wouldn't remember.

"We were childhood friends."

Lee listened to what it was that the girl was saying and he continued to rub the side of his head. He placed the book to his side and moved his right hand to take the glasses off his face and he rubbed his eyes with his left hand and then looked back at her. She did seem very familiar. He then paused. He slowly let himself raise out of his seat as he glared down at her and moved his right hand out and then toward her face. He then slowly took a step back as his glasses were now on her face and his constant blank face brightened a tad
"I-it really is you..."

She smiles a little bit and nods.

"I'm glad you remember now Lee."

Lee slowly moved his left hand up over his mouth as he placed his right hand on his hip. He had completely forgotten about her. He can't even remember the last time he say her. He can barely see her as she was so long, long ago. So many things have happened since then that old memories were pushed away. He lowered his hands down and leaned forward as he quickly embraced her in a hug and then just as quickly released her and took a step back. If anyone say him doing that, it would be his end.

Dawn smiled and looked at Lee, she gave him a hug.

"It's been a really long time. You've changed...a lot."

Lee slowly let his head lower as he looked down at himself, he rose his arms out as he looked to each of them and then back to her as he let them drop to his sides
"I have become a vice captain of the thirteen courtyard squads, graduated top of the class in record time and highest scores."

"That's great news but why do you look so...I don't know the word...well I do but I just don't know how to put it out there without it being kind of---" Dawn trails off "You just look more serious, I know you grew up but it just seems like you don't really care. Ya know?"

Dawn switched her weight from one foot to the other, feeling a little uneasy...

Lee listened to what it was that Dawn spoke about as he moved his left hand out and took the glasses off her face as she finished. He lowered them down and started to use the bottom of his shirt to wipe them off as he looked down at them and spoke his reply
"When I left, I was forced to study, then I got more and more into it and everything that was not important to a soul reaper was useless."

"I've studied as well, maybe not as hard. I got to places where I never thought I would be. I don't know...I liked when you use to make me laugh when I took your glasses." Dawn trailed off a little and looked at him

She was just talking...putting words together not knowing what she was saying, she was just talking about her feelings.

Lee slowly moved his glasses from under his shirt and looked down at them as he slowly turned them slightly as he continued to stare at them when she spoke of them and the past. He then slowly rose his head and looked to the sky as he rose the glasses up as if to make sure there was nothing else on them and slowly closed his eyes as he placed them onto his face and spoke
"My care free days were cut short when I left. I had nothing else but my studies and my name as a soul reaper so I aimed everything to that."

"But maybe I can change that...I miss the old Lee." She sat down next to him a little nervous and careful with her words.

"You remember everything we did as kids maybe with me here you can be carefree and still be kind of serious."

Lee slowly let himself sit down next to Dawn and he rose his left hand up to his forehead as he heard her speaking of being a kid. He then leaned forward as he placed his arms onto his knees and looked to the ground and replied
"It's a little harder than that. It's not like there is some sort of switch. I could barely remember you, let alone when I was like as a child."
He rose his hands and placed them onto the sides of his temple as he tried to think

"Well you remember I liked your glasses and I always took them from you." Dawn smiled and looked at him hoping he'd remember more.

Lee paused as he slowly moved his hands to the sides of his glasses and feels along the rims as he spoke
"I did. So I forgotten, it's not that bad. I just build off that."
He slowly let his posture straighten out as he leaned on the bench and looked to the skies as he spoke once more
"Okay, you like stealing my glasses....I remember...we...broke things....A LOT of things actually."

"Of course you remember the destruction time of our childhood." Dawn laughed and smiled

"What else?" Dawn smiled softly as she looked at Lee.

Lee's faint smile turned just a crack into one that was just a tad bit bigger. He moved his hands to the sides of his head and tried to think more about it and just tried to say things as they came to mind before they were lost again
"broken boards.....houses......running....we stole food? W-what kind of life did we have?"

"A crazy one, we always ran from people...then you left...and left me" Dawn trailed off a little and looked down at her notebook.
