The Frozen Lake;
Welcome to the Cold
The Frozen Lake;
The Coldest of All the Battlegrounds.
The lake is underground, thus light only reaches it in small streaks,
leaving the temperature well below freezing at all times.
Footing can be loose here, so one must always be wary of where they stand.
The interesting thing about this area is the crystalline structure of the walls.
If you look deep into them, refelctions are crystal clear.
But what one sees may not be what is actually there.
The reflections are like watching glimpses of your own lives. The play like movies, creating strong emotions in those that gaze into them. All teh secret desires of your heart become visible, as well as all of your secret fears and insecurities.
Be strong of will; for these reflections are lies.
They will attempt to play on these fears and insecurities, leading one to find ways to cast blames for past mistakes or failures on those around them. The strive to burn like a flame in the core of those that gaze into them.
They will even attempt to lead you to believe that the opponent you face is the one responsible for your suffering.
Why?
To understand this, one must understand the cold emptiness that leads one to covet.
The emptiness that causes one to envy everything around them, to want to take without gain for the sole purpose of preventing others from possesing happiness; To destroy everything in an attempt to quell ones own pain;
In other words; to make all those around you suffer as you do.
Should you choose to do battle here be wary of this; the cold is more than just cold;
the reflections you see are but illusions.
Do not lose your focus or your own demons will overwhelm you, leading you to act as something monstrous.
Fear, weakness, insecurity and dread are your enemies here, not the oppoenent you face.
One must stay dilligent and true of purpose and resolve to overcome this.
You may be wondering though; how can mere images cause me to despise the other that stands across from me on this field of battle?
The answer lies in the walls themselves.
The walls are filled with spirits of poor souls that were unfit for Soul Society, but not evil enough for hell. These souls were consumed by powerful creatures which have no soul of their own. Much like hollows the feed on those who died with anger towards another or commited some great betrayal towards another.
They are:
While these beings have no ability to actually touch conbatants, as they are prisoners of their own, cold envy, locked insde the walls of this frozen lake, they do have the ability to distort the minds of those that venture in here. Their only purpose is to make those who enter, suffer as they suffer.
Remember, They covet your free will; you may leave, they can not.
You have been warned. Be of vigilant mind and strength, or fall prey to their lies.
