Cornelia Nagatsumi (満潮 コーネリア, Nagatsumi Kōneria) is the 25th head of the Nagatsumi Clan, one of the four great noble clans in Soul Society. She is also the lieutenant of the 5th Division in the Gotei 13, and her captain is Izaya Mishima.

Appearance
Upon first glance, Cornelia is a rather voluptuous woman with full bust and backside that is proportioned by her tall stature and lean musculature gained from her training. Her face is usually set to a severe expression, but when relaxed or asleep, can be seen to be quite soft and pleasing to the eyes with straight nose, full lips highlighted by purple lipstick usually and sharp lavender hued eyes; which is over all framed by thick medium length wavy purple hair that is parted down the middle of her crown but usually swept to her right shoulder. She usually is clothed in the standard Shinigami uniform robes.
Personality
Cornelia's mind is very complicated on the inside, always calculating her actions and the actions of others and how to properly respond to them, as a Nagatsumi, a Soul Reaper, a sister, etc. As a noble, she was taught to always act a certain way, especially with certain other people, yet she still carries a bit of rebelliousness within her that she battles with. She can never fully relax in any given situation, always having to think about the repercussions of her actions; as she would not be the only one affected by them. While she is usually able to be quite cold and ruthless should the situation call for it, she also has her soft spots. She dotes on her younger sister, has a soft spot for her adoptive father and she is also partial to children, even if they are just barely under-aged.
Some of her closer comrades and friends often refer to her as a 'mother hen'. Sometimes this does not exactly endear her with the 'children' she is mothering, but she will always feel the need to protect them from even the littlest things. But while she has her soft side, she has an equally hard side. She admires and despises Makina, the Nagatsumi Clan head, in equal parts for her position and how she uses it. But never talks back to the matriarch unless it concerns Euphemia. She is allowed to be herself most when she is in battle, having a more fierce personality normally.
History
Cornelia and her younger sister, Euphemia, were brought together to the Rukongai after they died in the Human World together. She didn't know how she knew, but she just knew that Euphemia was her sister. She tried to take care of her baby sister as best she could, and that need to protect was what helped her discover her spirit energy. It was not long after this that Cornelia and her sister were under an attack from a Hollow when a member of the Noble Clan Nagatsumi saved them. Kyon Nagatsumi was the brother of the Clan's head, Makina Nagatsumi.
Afterwards, seeing the promise that the older sister showed, he adopted them into his noble family. This did not go over well with the rest of the clan, but Makina allowed it in the end, knowing that the girls would be useful tools for the Clan. But the condition was that Cornelia had to earn both her and her sister's keep. As Euphemia had no spiritual energy whatsoever, Cornelia would have to excel enough or the both of them. And if not, Makina was sure that Euphemia would make a lovely bride to some other noble family's son.
Cornelia vowed not to disappoint and immediately began her training in not only soul energy, but to be taught how to act like proper nobility. The first thing that she learned in joining the Nagatsumi was to never bring dishonor upon the Nagatsumi name or its Clan members. After attending the Shinigami Academy, she joined the Gotei 13 and worked her way up through the ranks, earning a name for herself not only as a Nagatsumi, but as a powerful Soul Reaper. Her sister grew into a lovely woman and was rumored to be un-courtable due to her protective older sister and adoptive father. Cornelia started out in the 5th division like many other Nagatsumi's and rose much quicker than her fellows, though many whispered it was due to her noble standing rather than any particular talents.

"Have you no thought for your family? It would disgrace our Clan for you to throw away your position." The matriarch stated with narrowed eyes. "I throw away nothing Aunt. I merely step down so that I may earn my position once again on my own terms. In addition, I am granted certain freedoms as a Vice Captain that allow me to conduct my Soul Reaper duties easier than as Captain. I will not disgrace my family."
Makina's face became more tense when she realized how serious her niece was but then relaxed. "Then I hope you'll have time in your busy Vice Captain's schedule to attend your sister's wedding, should she get engaged." Bringing up their old agreement, the matriarch was sure that this constant trump card would work. However Cornelia knew it would come eventually and responded easily, "I'm afraid that weddings are hard to arrange if any man that becomes engaged with a woman suddenly has a terrible accident."
Cornelia's eyes were sharp and Makina knew there was absolute truth in them, this was no bluff. Sniffing in annoyance and irritation, the older woman knew that there was nothing she could very well do to stop her. At least not now. Her demeanor suddenly turned more complacent. "I'm a busy woman dear and it's no concern of mine what you do. But you have my blessing regardless. Be sure to earn your Captaincy back soon." The magenta haired woman bowed low, recognizing a dismissal and replied, "Thank you dearest Aunt."

Whip Mastery: What makes Cornelia so effective in battle is the unique method in which her Zanpakutō operates; her Zanpakutō is an amalgamation of a whip and a sword. Cornelia is a versatile fighter because of this, and to effectively wield it is a testament to her skill. She has stated that her Zanpakutō is an extension of her body, like her arms and legs, and she has used it in a variety of ways. She can use its extension ability to attack an opponent from behind, or either the left or right, without giving away the variation of her attack until it is too late. She has shown considerable skill in using her extension capabilities to constrict opponents, surrounding them from various angles and then retracting her Zanpakutō in order to crush her adversaries.
Keen Intellect: Cornelia has shown herself to be a very insightful and perceptive woman. During her initial start as captain of the 5th division, she is able to see through many deceptions and illusions. Others have admitted to be intimidated by Cornelia's cunning.
Kidō Expert: Cornelia has considerable knowledge of high level Kidō spells, casting several in quick succession, with no incantation and almost no effort, and still possessing formidable power. She has used spells up to level 81, and possesses advanced knowledge of Kidō application and consistency. She can use a low-level spell repeatedly in rapid succession and with devastating effects, as well as a counter to attacks. She is most famously known for her binding Kidō's.
Shunpo Expert: Knowing that Suna no Senshi's Shikai attacks leave her open to counter-attacks, Cornelia has become highly proficient in Shunpo to compensate for this weak point.
Hakuda Combatant: While used less often, Cornelia is highly proficient in this area. She can stealthily knocked out several opponents with a single strike each.
Immense Spiritual Power: She can exert an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure, which, in addition to her already admirable combat skills and finesse, makes her a formidable captain. Her spiritual pressure can be felt from a great distance, and it has the tendency to make people perspire in fear. It is implied by Makina and Kyon Nagatsumi that she is among the few immensely strong heads of the Nagatsumi clan, further elaborating on her power level. Her reiatsu is a raspberry rose color.
Enhanced Endurance: While not having the most imposing appearance compared to other Shinigami captains, Cornelia is a very resilient fighter. During her fight against Bane, despite gaining severe injuries, she continued fighting effectively, even ignoring her wounds to the point where she seemed unfazed by them. She has willingly damaged herself to escape from her enemy's possession attacks, and continued to fight as though unaffected, eventually obtaining victory.
Master Tactician: Cornelia is a highly perceptive fighter, almost immediately determining an opponent's attack patterns and weaknesses. She is a crafty tactician, effectively using her surroundings and skills to confuse her opponents into situations that favor her. She can discern the motives and abilities of most her opponents, and effectively uses her knowledge to end the battle in her favor.
Zanpakutō
Satetsu (砂鉄, "Iron Sand"): Satetsu is a bright shining blade, thin in thickness, but long and very slightly curved. Its golden hilt is wrapped in white silk and its equally golden hand guard is delicate yet durable, shaped in a teardrop around the hilt.
Shikai: Satetsu Shigure Shikai command is "Sandblast, Sand Iron Drizzle" (サンドブラスト 砂鉄時雨 , "Sandoburasuto, Satetsu Shigure"). In its Shikai, Satetsu Shigure transforms into an even longer 8-part segmented blade. Satetsu Shigure's segments can grow in number almost without limit. The segments are connected by a stretchable thread, making Satetsu Shigure more useful as a whip than an actual sword; however, it can serve as a regular sword just as easily, thanks to Cornelia's swordsmanship. Satetsu Shigure's guard and handle remain the same in its Shikai release. While Satetsu Shigure can be stretched to incredible lengths in its whip form, Cornelia has a limit of three consecutive attacks before having to bring the segments of Satetsu Shigure back together for recovery - leaving her fairly vulnerable. To make up for this, she usually relies on Shunpo to evade attacks as she retrieves the segments. Cornelia's Shikai, while durable to an extent, can ultimately sustain serious damage the longer the fight drags on. While it can withstand dangerously prolonged combat, it has limits in enduring high-level attacks that are conducted by either the enemy or by Cornelia herself. Because of these many drawbacks, Cornelia states that out of all the other Zanpakutō wielded by the other Soul Reapers, her's is the most difficult to master.
Shikai Special Ability: Satetsu Shigure has a special technique rarely used known as:
Zekkō (咬, "Fang"): Cornelia can use her spiritual power to levitate the disconnected, detached or broken segments, they glow and sharpen with spiritual energy. They surround the opponent and execute an omni-directional attack of blades of spiritual energy. The attack leaves Cornelia defenseless whilst the blades attack and shortly after as they regroup back into her blade.
Bankai: Satetsu Kaihō's Bankai command is "Sandstorm, Sand Iron World Method" ( 砂嵐 砂鉄界法, "Sunaarashi, Satetsu Kaiho" ). To activate it, Cornelia places her hand atop the flat side of her blade and runs her hand down it, the sword scatters into sand and falls to the ground. Cornelia possesses the ability to manipulate the sand, typically moving it through the air to serve various purposes. No one knows the exact amount of sand generated, and no one can dodge the sand completely. The amount of sand is great enough that Cornelia can simultaneously use it for offense and defense. She commonly forms it into large masses to obliterate opponents instantaneously as it moves through the air like torrents of waves. Satetsu Kaihō's defensive use allows Cornelia to cover herself entirely in the sand, forming a body shield. Her Bankai is mentally controlled. While Cornelia can control the sand with her mind alone, using her hands allows her to do so more effectively, making the sand increase in speed threefold.
Bankai Special Ability: Cornelia's Bankai has several forms, achieved by arranging the sand in different patterns and shapes. Each form presents a different advantage, such as increasing offense at the expense of defense. This variety of techniques makes it extremely versatile. These techniques are activated by saying the name of the technique.
Suna no Tate (砂の盾, Shield of Sand): Whenever Cornelia is about to be harmed, a shield of sand will automatically surround and protect her. The sand will react regardless of Cornelia's will, even protecting her from self-inflicted injuries. The shield is formidable in both speed and strength — capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks and blocking fast projectiles. The Suna no Tate and the Suna no Yoroi together were known as Cornelia's "Absolute Defense". Cornelia can completely surround herself in the shield to further increase her defensive capabilities. She then uses the Third Eye to watch her opponents' movements and control sand as necessary to battle them. In addition to being extremely dense, this sand-sphere can form spikes from its surface to spear any would-be attacker. She is able to use this skill to defend others if she do desired and this formation can be used in mid-air. However, it could be defeated with extreme speeds and a great amount of brute force with no cooldown.
Suna no Yoroi (砂の鎧, Armour of Sand): Using this technique, Cornelia can cover herself in a compacted layer of sand, providing an additional defense should her Suna no Tate fail; combined, these two are known as Cornelia's "Absolute Defense". This armor is close to the skin and may even take the form of her clothes and skin in color and appearance. Though quite effective, maintaining the armor requires a large amount of spiritual energy and stamina. Furthermore, it is nowhere as resilient as the Suna no Tate, since it easily breaks away upon impact, indicating that the sole purpose of the armor is to absorb impact channeled unto Cornelia's body during battle. Another weakness is the additional weight of the sand which leads to decreased levels of speed and mobility with a one post cooldown.
Daisan no Me (第三の眼, Third Eye): With reiatsu, Cornelia connects an eye made of sand to her optic nerve, which enables her to know what happens in the artificial eye's field of vision, this is genuinely a third eye for her. She can control the size of the eye depending on its use. Its main purpose is spying, since it can form and disperse in any location on command. Cornelia also uses it when she completely surrounds herself with her Suna no Tate so she can see what's happening outside of the protective dome. In order to use it however she must keep one of her eyes closed for the duration of the technique. It has a six post use and a three post cooldown.
Suna Shigure (砂時雨, Sand Drizzle): After clotting together sand into countless small lumps, Cornelia uses them to attack an enemy from every direction. Because all the sand lumps are controlled by spiritual energy, it is possible to commence an attack without any blind spots. This technique is often used as lure in battle, distracting an opponent and leaving them vulnerable to an attack from below. In order for this to work, the enemy is first made to face upwards with the sand rain, simultaneously bringing their field of activities under Cornelia's control. Then, a bold move is made from underfoot. To make sure the rain hits its mark, it can be combined with Sabaku Kyū to immobilize the target. The attack is only so powerful and is mainly used to either get the target's attention, annoy or if dropped in thick enough clumps and from a higher height, it can cause welts and painful bruising and has a four post cooldown.
Suna no Kanchi (砂の感知, Sand Sensing): Suna no Kanchi is a contact type sensory-technique. By dispersing specialized sand into a specific area, Cornelia is able to discern the presence of bodies that comes into direct contact with it. This sensing sand can be spread across a wide terrain, or even float in the air allowing aerial foes to be detected. Once the sand comes in contact with a person, it will wrap itself around them, rendering even invisible targets, visible. During this skill, she can not move from her position and the sand that wraps itself around the enemy does no damage what-so-ever. It has a two post usage and a three post cooldown.
Suna Bunshin (砂分身, Sand Clone): This technique is used to create clones in the shape of herself or others using sand as a medium. The clone's form can be changed instantly into sand, and the enemy's body can be trapped. Its many applications with long-range attacks can have it act as a lure and a decoy. Should one of her clones be hit with enough force, it would simply disintegrate into the sand it was originally made from. It has a five post usage and a three post cooldown.
Sabaku Kyū (砂縛柩, Sand Binding Coffin): With her ability to control sand, Cornelia encases her opponents in a large amount of the special reiatsu-infused sand (in the form of hands reaching/crawling at the opponent) created by the activation of her Bankai, immobilizing them. It can be used to suffocate an opponent or Cornelia will cause the sand to implode and crush whatever is within it. According to Cornelia, when used to kill a person, the death is so quick that there isn't even time for the victim to feel any pain. The pressure also produces a sizable fountain of blood. Cornelia can control the pressure used in the attack, which allows her to either break bones or completely liquefy an opponent. This technique allows the sand to move at a much fast rate to catch her enemy. She must have a clear line of sight of the person and keep them their in order to actually use the skill. The skill can remain active for three posts with a three post cooldown.
Ryūsa Bakuryū (流砂瀑流, Quicksand Waterfall Flow): This technique creates a massive amount of sand in the form of a wave, covering and "drowning" the opponent in an ocean of sand. From the sand Cornelia creates with her sword, she grinds the rocks and minerals from underground into a large sea of sand and manipulates it like a tsunami that engulfs absolutely all the things in her line of sight. This raging sea deals a lot of damage by itself, but one can further take advantage of the sand for a second and a third consecutive assault. Cornelia can control the sand, allowing her to attack her opponent while they attempt to outrun the wave. This technique has the added effect of changing the landscape. This is usually followed by the Sabaku Taisō to finish off her foes. Cornelia can use no other skills during this attack and all skills active when Ryūsa Bakuryū is started quickly come to a stop, regardless. This skill has a one post usage and a five post cooldown.
Sabaku Taisō (砂瀑大葬, Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral): This technique is a specialty of Cornelia's, where she makes the land a stage for her representation. This technique is identical to Sabaku Kyū in that the stream of sand crushes the enemy. But as far as scale goes, this is in a totally different league. One may be able to hold their own against a single attack, but multiple obliteration's are where this technique shines. Cornelia slams both hands down onto the sand, creating powerful shock waves that compress the sand. Anything buried in the sand is subsequently crushed. This takes a massive amount of spiritual energy and can only be used in quick and sudden bursts. Can be used a max of three times a battle.
Dochū Senkō (土中潜航, Subterranean Voyage): This technique changes earth into fine sand by channeling her Bankai into it, allowing Cornelia to dig or swim though it. This effect goes around the body (not just the hands), making it just large enough for a person to move through. Cornelia can pinpoint where the enemy would be, despite being underground, by sensing the sand's movement of her Bankai. She can also sense what is happening on the surface and use that information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. She can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy can't reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where she entered the earth. The skill has no offensive powers and is used for either escape of the use of a surprise attack. She is unable to use other offensive skills whilst completely underground. This skill has a four post cooldown after surfacing.

Master Swordsman: Cornelia is implied to be a powerful combatant, being a Shinigami captain and the official leader among the Nagatsumi. Cornelia takes on the 6th Squad Captain, maintaining her calm in the face of the destruction Bane brought to the battle and pushing the Captain back, using only her bankai and her swordsmanship skill.Whip Mastery: What makes Cornelia so effective in battle is the unique method in which her Zanpakutō operates; her Zanpakutō is an amalgamation of a whip and a sword. Cornelia is a versatile fighter because of this, and to effectively wield it is a testament to her skill. She has stated that her Zanpakutō is an extension of her body, like her arms and legs, and she has used it in a variety of ways. She can use its extension ability to attack an opponent from behind, or either the left or right, without giving away the variation of her attack until it is too late. She has shown considerable skill in using her extension capabilities to constrict opponents, surrounding them from various angles and then retracting her Zanpakutō in order to crush her adversaries.
Keen Intellect: Cornelia has shown herself to be a very insightful and perceptive woman. During her initial start as captain of the 5th division, she is able to see through many deceptions and illusions. Others have admitted to be intimidated by Cornelia's cunning.
Kidō Expert: Cornelia has considerable knowledge of high level Kidō spells, casting several in quick succession, with no incantation and almost no effort, and still possessing formidable power. She has used spells up to level 81, and possesses advanced knowledge of Kidō application and consistency. She can use a low-level spell repeatedly in rapid succession and with devastating effects, as well as a counter to attacks. She is most famously known for her binding Kidō's.
Shunpo Expert: Knowing that Suna no Senshi's Shikai attacks leave her open to counter-attacks, Cornelia has become highly proficient in Shunpo to compensate for this weak point.
Hakuda Combatant: While used less often, Cornelia is highly proficient in this area. She can stealthily knocked out several opponents with a single strike each.
Immense Spiritual Power: She can exert an immense amount of Spiritual Pressure, which, in addition to her already admirable combat skills and finesse, makes her a formidable captain. Her spiritual pressure can be felt from a great distance, and it has the tendency to make people perspire in fear. It is implied by Makina and Kyon Nagatsumi that she is among the few immensely strong heads of the Nagatsumi clan, further elaborating on her power level. Her reiatsu is a raspberry rose color.
Enhanced Endurance: While not having the most imposing appearance compared to other Shinigami captains, Cornelia is a very resilient fighter. During her fight against Bane, despite gaining severe injuries, she continued fighting effectively, even ignoring her wounds to the point where she seemed unfazed by them. She has willingly damaged herself to escape from her enemy's possession attacks, and continued to fight as though unaffected, eventually obtaining victory.
Master Tactician: Cornelia is a highly perceptive fighter, almost immediately determining an opponent's attack patterns and weaknesses. She is a crafty tactician, effectively using her surroundings and skills to confuse her opponents into situations that favor her. She can discern the motives and abilities of most her opponents, and effectively uses her knowledge to end the battle in her favor.

Satetsu (Spirit). The manifested spirit that dwells within Cornelia's sword. Satetsu (砂鉄, "Iron Sand"): Satetsu is a bright shining blade, thin in thickness, but long and very slightly curved. Its golden hilt is wrapped in white silk and its equally golden hand guard is delicate yet durable, shaped in a teardrop around the hilt.

Shikai: Satetsu Shigure Shikai command is "Sandblast, Sand Iron Drizzle" (サンドブラスト 砂鉄時雨 , "Sandoburasuto, Satetsu Shigure"). In its Shikai, Satetsu Shigure transforms into an even longer 8-part segmented blade. Satetsu Shigure's segments can grow in number almost without limit. The segments are connected by a stretchable thread, making Satetsu Shigure more useful as a whip than an actual sword; however, it can serve as a regular sword just as easily, thanks to Cornelia's swordsmanship. Satetsu Shigure's guard and handle remain the same in its Shikai release. While Satetsu Shigure can be stretched to incredible lengths in its whip form, Cornelia has a limit of three consecutive attacks before having to bring the segments of Satetsu Shigure back together for recovery - leaving her fairly vulnerable. To make up for this, she usually relies on Shunpo to evade attacks as she retrieves the segments. Cornelia's Shikai, while durable to an extent, can ultimately sustain serious damage the longer the fight drags on. While it can withstand dangerously prolonged combat, it has limits in enduring high-level attacks that are conducted by either the enemy or by Cornelia herself. Because of these many drawbacks, Cornelia states that out of all the other Zanpakutō wielded by the other Soul Reapers, her's is the most difficult to master.

Shikai Special Ability: Satetsu Shigure has a special technique rarely used known as:
Zekkō (咬, "Fang"): Cornelia can use her spiritual power to levitate the disconnected, detached or broken segments, they glow and sharpen with spiritual energy. They surround the opponent and execute an omni-directional attack of blades of spiritual energy. The attack leaves Cornelia defenseless whilst the blades attack and shortly after as they regroup back into her blade.
Bankai: Satetsu Kaihō's Bankai command is "Sandstorm, Sand Iron World Method" ( 砂嵐 砂鉄界法, "Sunaarashi, Satetsu Kaiho" ). To activate it, Cornelia places her hand atop the flat side of her blade and runs her hand down it, the sword scatters into sand and falls to the ground. Cornelia possesses the ability to manipulate the sand, typically moving it through the air to serve various purposes. No one knows the exact amount of sand generated, and no one can dodge the sand completely. The amount of sand is great enough that Cornelia can simultaneously use it for offense and defense. She commonly forms it into large masses to obliterate opponents instantaneously as it moves through the air like torrents of waves. Satetsu Kaihō's defensive use allows Cornelia to cover herself entirely in the sand, forming a body shield. Her Bankai is mentally controlled. While Cornelia can control the sand with her mind alone, using her hands allows her to do so more effectively, making the sand increase in speed threefold.

Bankai Special Ability: Cornelia's Bankai has several forms, achieved by arranging the sand in different patterns and shapes. Each form presents a different advantage, such as increasing offense at the expense of defense. This variety of techniques makes it extremely versatile. These techniques are activated by saying the name of the technique.
Suna no Tate (砂の盾, Shield of Sand): Whenever Cornelia is about to be harmed, a shield of sand will automatically surround and protect her. The sand will react regardless of Cornelia's will, even protecting her from self-inflicted injuries. The shield is formidable in both speed and strength — capable of withstanding considerably strong attacks and blocking fast projectiles. The Suna no Tate and the Suna no Yoroi together were known as Cornelia's "Absolute Defense". Cornelia can completely surround herself in the shield to further increase her defensive capabilities. She then uses the Third Eye to watch her opponents' movements and control sand as necessary to battle them. In addition to being extremely dense, this sand-sphere can form spikes from its surface to spear any would-be attacker. She is able to use this skill to defend others if she do desired and this formation can be used in mid-air. However, it could be defeated with extreme speeds and a great amount of brute force with no cooldown.
Suna no Yoroi (砂の鎧, Armour of Sand): Using this technique, Cornelia can cover herself in a compacted layer of sand, providing an additional defense should her Suna no Tate fail; combined, these two are known as Cornelia's "Absolute Defense". This armor is close to the skin and may even take the form of her clothes and skin in color and appearance. Though quite effective, maintaining the armor requires a large amount of spiritual energy and stamina. Furthermore, it is nowhere as resilient as the Suna no Tate, since it easily breaks away upon impact, indicating that the sole purpose of the armor is to absorb impact channeled unto Cornelia's body during battle. Another weakness is the additional weight of the sand which leads to decreased levels of speed and mobility with a one post cooldown.
Daisan no Me (第三の眼, Third Eye): With reiatsu, Cornelia connects an eye made of sand to her optic nerve, which enables her to know what happens in the artificial eye's field of vision, this is genuinely a third eye for her. She can control the size of the eye depending on its use. Its main purpose is spying, since it can form and disperse in any location on command. Cornelia also uses it when she completely surrounds herself with her Suna no Tate so she can see what's happening outside of the protective dome. In order to use it however she must keep one of her eyes closed for the duration of the technique. It has a six post use and a three post cooldown.
Suna Shigure (砂時雨, Sand Drizzle): After clotting together sand into countless small lumps, Cornelia uses them to attack an enemy from every direction. Because all the sand lumps are controlled by spiritual energy, it is possible to commence an attack without any blind spots. This technique is often used as lure in battle, distracting an opponent and leaving them vulnerable to an attack from below. In order for this to work, the enemy is first made to face upwards with the sand rain, simultaneously bringing their field of activities under Cornelia's control. Then, a bold move is made from underfoot. To make sure the rain hits its mark, it can be combined with Sabaku Kyū to immobilize the target. The attack is only so powerful and is mainly used to either get the target's attention, annoy or if dropped in thick enough clumps and from a higher height, it can cause welts and painful bruising and has a four post cooldown.
Suna no Kanchi (砂の感知, Sand Sensing): Suna no Kanchi is a contact type sensory-technique. By dispersing specialized sand into a specific area, Cornelia is able to discern the presence of bodies that comes into direct contact with it. This sensing sand can be spread across a wide terrain, or even float in the air allowing aerial foes to be detected. Once the sand comes in contact with a person, it will wrap itself around them, rendering even invisible targets, visible. During this skill, she can not move from her position and the sand that wraps itself around the enemy does no damage what-so-ever. It has a two post usage and a three post cooldown.
Suna Bunshin (砂分身, Sand Clone): This technique is used to create clones in the shape of herself or others using sand as a medium. The clone's form can be changed instantly into sand, and the enemy's body can be trapped. Its many applications with long-range attacks can have it act as a lure and a decoy. Should one of her clones be hit with enough force, it would simply disintegrate into the sand it was originally made from. It has a five post usage and a three post cooldown.
Sabaku Kyū (砂縛柩, Sand Binding Coffin): With her ability to control sand, Cornelia encases her opponents in a large amount of the special reiatsu-infused sand (in the form of hands reaching/crawling at the opponent) created by the activation of her Bankai, immobilizing them. It can be used to suffocate an opponent or Cornelia will cause the sand to implode and crush whatever is within it. According to Cornelia, when used to kill a person, the death is so quick that there isn't even time for the victim to feel any pain. The pressure also produces a sizable fountain of blood. Cornelia can control the pressure used in the attack, which allows her to either break bones or completely liquefy an opponent. This technique allows the sand to move at a much fast rate to catch her enemy. She must have a clear line of sight of the person and keep them their in order to actually use the skill. The skill can remain active for three posts with a three post cooldown.
Ryūsa Bakuryū (流砂瀑流, Quicksand Waterfall Flow): This technique creates a massive amount of sand in the form of a wave, covering and "drowning" the opponent in an ocean of sand. From the sand Cornelia creates with her sword, she grinds the rocks and minerals from underground into a large sea of sand and manipulates it like a tsunami that engulfs absolutely all the things in her line of sight. This raging sea deals a lot of damage by itself, but one can further take advantage of the sand for a second and a third consecutive assault. Cornelia can control the sand, allowing her to attack her opponent while they attempt to outrun the wave. This technique has the added effect of changing the landscape. This is usually followed by the Sabaku Taisō to finish off her foes. Cornelia can use no other skills during this attack and all skills active when Ryūsa Bakuryū is started quickly come to a stop, regardless. This skill has a one post usage and a five post cooldown.
Sabaku Taisō (砂瀑大葬, Sand Waterfall Imperial Funeral): This technique is a specialty of Cornelia's, where she makes the land a stage for her representation. This technique is identical to Sabaku Kyū in that the stream of sand crushes the enemy. But as far as scale goes, this is in a totally different league. One may be able to hold their own against a single attack, but multiple obliteration's are where this technique shines. Cornelia slams both hands down onto the sand, creating powerful shock waves that compress the sand. Anything buried in the sand is subsequently crushed. This takes a massive amount of spiritual energy and can only be used in quick and sudden bursts. Can be used a max of three times a battle.
Dochū Senkō (土中潜航, Subterranean Voyage): This technique changes earth into fine sand by channeling her Bankai into it, allowing Cornelia to dig or swim though it. This effect goes around the body (not just the hands), making it just large enough for a person to move through. Cornelia can pinpoint where the enemy would be, despite being underground, by sensing the sand's movement of her Bankai. She can also sense what is happening on the surface and use that information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. She can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy can't reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where she entered the earth. The skill has no offensive powers and is used for either escape of the use of a surprise attack. She is unable to use other offensive skills whilst completely underground. This skill has a four post cooldown after surfacing.

Cornelia Nagatsumi is also appears as 'Cornelia li Britannia' from the hit anime 'Code Geass'. She is the second princess of the Britannian Imperial Family and is Lelouch's half-sister. She serves as one of the main antagonists during the first season, but later becomes a neutral character during the second.

Her Bankai is modeled after two individuals. Gaara of the Sand and Byakuya Kuchiki. Using a mix of both character's very similar styles to manipulate sand, typically moving it through the air to serve various purposes as Gaara of the Sand does but attack like that of Byakuya Kuchiki.
