Jack
"Why me?"
Basic Information:
Character Name: Jack Gender: Male Age: 43 Class: Hollow Residence: Hueco Mundo Desert Appearance: Jack is a five foot three inch humanoid hollow with dark purple skin. He sees the world through his relatively simple mask with glowing yellow eyes, as most of his hollow brethren do. The only outstanding feature about him is that he has the proportions that a human would rather than a monster like many others of his kind.
Personality: Jack is, above all else, cunning. The world he has found himself in confuses him, but he knows that the only thing he has to do is get stronger or get killed. He feels it in his very being that he must kill those with the masks and won't hesitate to do so, but his hunger doesn't consume him to the point where he will attack the innocent. Although he has a burning feeling of wanting to eat all the souls he can, he has enough self control to hold back from the souls of the living, only those who have lost their heart.
He's curious and wary as well, allowing him to know when he needs to retreat or when he can attack. Jack is by no means the physically strongest of the hollows, but he is the most mentally capable. There's always a nagging thought in his head that everyone like him seems more beast than man which begs the question why he hasn't been consumed by his primal instincts that he keeps under control. Whatever that reason would be, he is dedicated to find it and is willing to do whatever it takes to stay alive other than eating the souls of humans unless it's absolutely necessary. If there is any particular dislikes Jack has, it would definitely be the resentment of the Shinigami for not guiding his soul when his chain was still attached, so if he gets the chance, he will try harder to consume their soul than even his own brethren.
Occasionally, actually much more common than he would like to admit, Jack is plagued with angst and a feeling of loneliness knowing that no other hollows will listen to him. Knowing everyone like him is a beast or too powerful to bother with him.
Your Legacy: Your Story:
Jack was an average man in life. He worked as a thief, relying on his wits to survive and thrive in the world just as he would after death. Every time he would break into a home or office, a sense of adrenaline would fill him that would be unmatched by any other feeling, but that didn't make him sloppy. The police dubbed him the "Roaming Raven" because of the calling card he left at all of his victim's homes: A black feather. That, along with the fact that he always moved to seemingly random locations around whatever city he was currently occupying, they thought it was fitting, as did he.
One day, he robbed from a house just like any day. He got away with more money than usual as the home owner was quite wealthy. What Jack failed to realize, though, was that the owner had quite a few underground connections. Before he knew it, he got a bag pulled off of his head and had the business end of a gun pressed against his forehead. Hands and legs bound, he was as good as dead until the executioner pulled the trigger. To his and Jack's surprise, the gun jammed and the man in the chair wasn't waiting for it to get fixed.
With a movement of his upper body, he moved the chair to the right, and to the left, eventually sending it and him to the floor while the executioner reloaded the weapon pointing it down at him. The flimsy chair broke upon impact with the floor, freeing Jack and allowing him to tackle the one who threatened his life. After a brief scuffle, Jack had the gun and shot the man in the chest several times before running off and disposing of the weapon the only way he knew how, throwing it into a violent river.
He was in the clear. All he needed to do now was pay the man who did this to him a visit. The one who ordered for him to be kidnapped and killed in cold blood, but on his way to the estate, he was hit by a driver who lost control for one moment and skidded onto the sidewalk that Jack was using, killing him immediately. Everything from then on was really a blur. He remembered being very angry at the driver, more so than the man who actually TRIED to kill him to begin with.
The Raven always thought he would be killed some other way. Such as old age or disease. But getting hit by a car after surviving a hit? He never would've seen this coming. Although he wanted nothing more to see the driver pay, Jack accepted the fact that there was nothing he could do and instead of trying to do anything from the afterlife, he instead decided to roam the streets of his city while his chain corroded. That's when he was attacked.
A newly created hollow came from an alley and tried to devour his fresh soul, and he couldn't have that. The beast was strong, but it was primal. Untrained. Vicious. It was raw power without the control to put it to effective use, and that was its downfall. That was the last thing he can remember before waking up in a desert. He may have devoured the hollow, he might not have. All that's for certain is that when he came to, he was in the Hueco Mundo Desert, hollowfied and confused, but conscious and aware. Since then, his goal is simply to survive and thrive off of what he was lucky to keep, his wits.
RP Sample: Jack looked to the sky and let out a sigh. He felt the sand under his toes and looked down and back at the vast expanse of sand that surrounded him. The newly created hollow could remember his past as a human, all until he defeated that first hollow. What happened to me? Did someone knock me out and bring me here? What happened to the chain on my chest... why am I one of those 'things'? It doesn't make any sense were his immediate thoughts. All there was in his head was panic at the situation he was in, until of course he calmed down. Panicking was going to get him killed and he knew it.
Worrying wouldn't help him if he was dead, and he knew that too. There's plenty of time to get answers as long as I'm alive I guess... But I feel so hungry he thought again, the primal instinct that was present within all hollows welling up within him. He had a quick thought of trying to find a way back to the land of the living to feast of quick and easy souls that were unaware like he was, but soon decided against it. No. I can't. They don't deserve to lose their souls to me. Not until they become like me, though, then they're mine. Jack created this code and would stick to it no matter what.
This code was what he identified with. This code is what he believed put him above the others monsters in this world. It was the only thing that he thought connected him to humanity, and no matter what, he wouldn't forget it.
Release Information:
Basic information:
Zanpakuto Name: Pluma Negra Appearance: - Spoiler:
Element: Wind Spiritual Pressure Color: Dark Green Cero Color: Dark Green
Resurrección: Resurrección Name: El Cuervo Release Command: "Time to rend, El Cuervo!" Released Appearance: Long white wings made out of the same material that makes up his mask are created behind him and his mask's mouth extends ever so slightly and dips a very small amount, as if to form the beak of a raven. His feet are also coated in this white substance as it forms sharp talons over his feet. Descriptions: Jack's body takes on a transformation with his Resurrección, taking on the likeness of a bird more than a hollow. His sword fades away in a gust of wind expulsed in all directions, but returns to his hands. Instead of leaving him like the initial action would suggest, Pluma Negra turns into the final part of the physical transformation. His sword turns into three razor sharp, white talons on each of his hands which are made of the same material as his fully functioning wings and foot talons. This 'true' form of his is symbolic of the life he led as a human, free as a bird, a bird they gave a name. The Raven. Other Changes: N/A
Techniques:
Name: Awareness State: Both Terms of usage: This is more like an ability than an active technique. It's always -working- Description: First and foremost, this is by far his most important ability. Jack still has his mind and thus can still speak, retain memories (to a scarily accurate degree), and do anything that any other mind can do, only slightly sharper. Since it's his only and best tool of survival, the body he has left seems to process information slightly faster than a normal mind, though the difference is very minuscule at his current level. Downside: His mind can't be used to attack or defend himself physically like a sword or shield. He's also occasionally bombarded with feelings of detachment and loneliness in between slaughtering his hollow brethren for more power and self preservation.
Name: Camouflage State: Both Terms of usage: This technique is always in use, until he has been spotted by his enemy, then they will have no trouble seeing him. It's only active while he's standing still Description: An ability that also came to be out of necessity. Since he's not too extraordinary in terms of physical ability, Jack's body apparently decided to evolve a certain trait of blending into the desert. This allows him to get the drop on any wandering hollow or hide from the rare occasions where they form packs. Downside: He is much harder to spot but only when standing still. Once they do spot him, however, this ability is rendered useless until the fight concludes.
Name: Poison Fog State: Both Terms of usage: This technique will only be used once in a fight, and only once it as already begun and Jack is in immediate danger. Though he can choose when to activate it. Description: Another ability that adds onto Jack's arsenal of more tactical powers. When he is in immediate danger, he can choose to disperse a purple mist from his skin that creates a dense fog that spreads out in a 5x5x5m area around him. He is immune to the poison and it weakens his enemies the longer they are inside of it. Inhaling it will cause a light degree of dizziness and nausea which will lead to stumbling and vomiting if they do not leave it within three posts. The mist lasts four posts and takes five posts before he can use it again. Downside: Although Jack is immune to the poison, he cannot see inside of the fog, though he does have slightly better visibility inside of it than his enemies. This makes him slightly hesitant to use it, and when he does, he makes sure to bolt in the opposite direction to escape the fog.
Name: Harden State: Both Terms of usage: It's activated on it's own, instinctively, whenever Jack strikes or is struck. Description: Jack's only "real" physical protection against other hollows or surprise attacks that may come his way. His body will immediately harden using the same white substance that makes up the masks to block the impact of the blow, well the damage it'll do anyways. It also works the same way when he strikes, his arms or leg will do the same to add more kick behind his attack. Downside: Not very effective against attacks that knock him back, as it will only protect his physical body, but it won't stop him from being sent flying. This also only slightly hardens his body, nothing like turning it as tough as steel.
