Personality:Izaya externally is happy, shy, goofy and a carefree spirit. These outside traits instantly cause other to think that Izaya is a joke as a Shinigami. Izaya always wears a happy face to prevent others from trying to pry into his life. However, internally, Izaya is distant, sarcastic, introverted, lazy, but extremely smart, logical, and analytical. Izaya has always been distant in his life and never truly felt like he was like everyone else. He has always been the odd one out or the one that never fit in with anyone unless he really wanted to. Whenever Izaya can have time to himself, he uses that time wisely to ensure that he isn’t around anyone and that no one can bother him.
Izaya isn’t truly distant from people though. He doesn’t mind having that interaction with others, but given his introverted nature, just the thought of interacting and engaging with others is a tiresome process to him. The only way Izaya will truly engage with someone is if they interest him or if they won’t leave him alone. Furthermore, his bad habit of isolation has caused him to gain somewhat of a superiority complex in terms of mental prowess. This is apparent when he’s being sarcastic with others. He knows that he’s not the smartest being alive, but he still considers himself to be a cut above everyone else, even if he doesn’t always show it.
Izaya has never been open with anyone in his life because he feels as though nobody would understand him. Even if he were to share every thought in his mind with someone, he just feels like they wouldn’t get it. The same thing applies with those whom he takes an intimate interest in. The isolation, in his opinion, is both a mental gift and a curse. Izaya claims that the only time he’s at some type of peace is when he’s asleep, which is something he likes to do quite often.
Lastly, Izaya demonstrates a great sense of pride in his race as a Shinigami, often claiming that there is no race of spiritual beings that could possibly compare with the military might of the Soul Society. In battle, Izaya has no problem with outright decimating his enemies as a testament to the might of the Shinigami. He will go to any lengths necessary to ensure that no harm befalls the Seireitei or the lives of those that he has been entrusted with.

Character Story:
Izaya was still a small child when his human life ended and as such he remembers very little of it other than a few cloudy memories of his family. But, even those memories are slowly fading away as he ages as a Shinigami. Izaya grew up in the average class 78th Rukon District with his grandmother and grandfather as a new soul. His father and mother died shortly after he was born, so he has no recollection of his birth parents at all. Although, judging from the stories and depictions from his grandparents, Izaya’s parents were both extremely good people.
Despite the fact that he lived with his grandparents in the Rukongai, life was very difficult as he was still very young when he died and was unable to look after himself. However, after a few years, Izaya began to grow stronger and smarter. He was sure of his own abilities to roam around the Rukon Districts without any supervision by this time. One night, Izaya left his grandparent’s home to explore the districts. Izaya was a nighthawk, it’s when his energy was at its peak and he didn’t really have to worry about getting too tired. When better to explore than at that time? Surprisingly enough, either he wasn’t walking around the right parts or the Rukons were only dangerous during the day, but there was no activity at all. People were either returning home or sleeping, it was uneventful to say the least. But, as Izaya returned home, there were blood-curdling roars echoing throughout the entire district. It was the roar of a Hollow, but not just one, it was multiple. Izaya quickly ran home and to his horror, his district had been completely wiped out and most of the inhabitants had either been eaten or were about to be eaten, including his grandparents. In shock, Izaya stepped back only to stumble backwards. He had fallen and was about to get eaten by a Hollow. But, as the Hollow reached out to grab him, its hand was served by what appeared to be a streak of light.
Dazed and confused, Izaya watched as the Hollow screamed in pain and shrieked back. In the same instant, Izaya was in a completely different location away from the Hollows. When Izaya snapped back to reality and became aware of his surroundings, he noticed that there was a group of Shinigami standing in front of him, one of which has saved him from one of the Hollows. As the Shinigami left to deal with the remaining Hollows, Izaya yelled out to the very one who had saved him, “W-Wait! My grandparents are still-.“ Izaya was immediately cut off as the Shinigami said that everyone in his district except for him was dead. Izaya stared at the Shinigami in terror as he disappeared from his field of vision. The only family Izaya had was gone, they were taken from him just like that.
A few days had passed since the “78th Rukon Incident,” at least that’s what people were calling it. Izaya wandered in a catatonic like state for many days throughout the poorer Rukon Districts and sometimes even the more richer. As he walked, he could see people staring at him and calling him the “Last Survivor.” All he wanted was refuge and solitude. It was as if he was trapped within his own body, internally he was screaming out for someone to save him, but nobody could hear his screams. Eventually, Izaya found an abandoned building in the 58th Rukon, which was where he slept.
Three days had passed when Izaya finally began to mentally rebuild himself. The catatonic phase had finally ended and Izaya was starting to feel the life slowly flowing back into him. On the third night of sleeping in the abandoned building, a stranger visited Izaya; it was a man. As the man walked into the moonlight, Izaya recognized him as the man who had saved him from the Hollow attack many days prior. The Shinigami asked Izaya if he wanted to come and live with him in the 2nd Rukon District. At first, Izaya thought the Shinigami was joking because the single digit Rukon Districts were meant for the more socially pleasing residents. Reluctantly, Izaya left with the Shinigami and was soon adopted into a wealthy family known as the “Mishima Family,” which gave him both a home and a goal.
Izaya remained with the Mishima family for many years before learning the ways of the Soul Reapers. Kazuya Mishima, who was the Shinigami who saved him, as well as the head of the household, trained Izaya in the art of swordplay and zanjutsu. He knew from the first time that he saw one that he wanted to become one of the Shinigami, a protector of the Soul Society. He also wanted to be as skilled as his new father was. However, it was not until sometime later that his great spiritual power was noticed, and he was taken into the academy to become a Soul Reaper under Kazuya’s tutelage.
Placed in the advanced class straight away upon Kazuya’s insistence, Izaya showed great skill in the art of Zanjutsu, Shunpo, and seemed to have a proficient affinity for fire-based kido. Learning many techniques and spending countless hours practicing. When the time came to practice with zajutsu, Izaya was the last person to volunteer in the sparring classes, but defeated his opponent in a matter of seconds, much to Kazuya’s satisfaction as a mentor and father.
In his third year at the academy, Izaya achieved Shikai for the first time with his zanpaktou. During a training exercise in the human world, the group was attacked by a hollow and one of his fellow classmates was killed. Filled with pure rage from fear of another Rukon incident occurring, Izaya called on his zanpaktou, releasing its shikai form. Izaya made short work of the hollow, cutting it down and saving the rest of his friends from the enemy. Following this, Izaya soon became a legend at the academy. With his powerful Zanjutsu and skill with Shunpo, few could rival him and he graduated the academy with flying colors.

Izaya sits at his desk; it was loaded with papers that had not even begun to be started on yet. Izaya placed his hand on his chin and looks at the pile of papers wondering what to do with them; he takes his free hand and then begins to count them. The way the papers were stacked made it look like there were at least 300+ papers that needed to be filled out. Izaya had no members in his squad so he could not give the papers to just anyone. Right now he figured it would be the best time to have a Lieutenant around. As a matter of fact, thinking back on it, even when Izaya was enrolled in the Shino Academy he never really had a knack for trying to complete his work to the fullest extent.
" I wonder if the Head Captain would be upset if I left these papers here....or simply put, throw them in the trash.. "
Izaya stood and grabbed the mass of papers with his 2 hands and walked over towards the trash bin. He lowered his arms slightly and then suddenly paused.
" ......................... "
He had not really thought about what would happen if the Head Captain saw that he was not filling out his reports. Izaya walked back to his desk groaning and placed the papers back where he got them from.
" Damnit...I hate paper work, why does this have to be done anyway? Hmm...I wonder if Tsukyomi knows how to do paper work. Even if he did how would I get all these papers there? "
Izaya sat at his desk again and blankly stared at the papers once more.

Zanpakutō:
Zanpakuto Spirit Description: Hakkō Taiyō wears basic black gloves and boots. His black coat’s sleeves close up tightly around his arms and emphasizes his lithe and skinny build. Hakkō Taiyō has fair skin with rosy hues, a widow's peak, rather small eyebrows and thick, shoulder-length, bright red hair styled into slicked-back spikes. His eyes are a bright emerald color and he has a purple reverse-teardrop shaped marking under each eye.

Zanpakuto Name: Hakkō Taiyō (発光太陽, "Luminescent Sun")
Inner World: Izaya refers to this world as the "Reverse World." Every peace of scenery you see in this world is being reflected somewhere else. What's up, is down, what's down, is up.

Sealed Appearance: When sealed, Hakkō Taiyō takes the form of a normal katana. The hilt is black with a gold tsuba made in the shape of an oval with four indentations, giving it four internal edges.
Shikai
Name: Hakkō Taiyō (発光太陽, "Luminescent Sun")
Shikai Release Phrase: “Blaze” (火災, Kasai)
Released Appearance: Izaya holds his sword out in front of himself with an outstretched arm and lets it go as it levitates in midair in front himself. Immediately after the sword leaves Izaya’s grip, the sword rotates rapidly in a clockwise motion. As the sword rotates, a trail of pink flames immediately engulfs the entire blade and separates into two large orbs of flames. The flame from these orbs disperses to reveal two chakrams. Each chakram is circular and pink, with silver spikes and circles around the edges, and two black handles shaped in a cross in the middle.

Shikai Special Ability: Hakkō Taiyō’s Shikai ability is the manipulation of flames or pyrokinesis. Izaya can summon pillars of flames at will and strike with rapid combos using his chakrams, which can be controlled physically or mentally. He can also surround his chakrams in flames and throw them like boomerangs, spinning and looping them to hit opponents multiple times. Izaya can set the tips or the whole chakram on fire before throwing them. He is also capable of setting his chakrams on fire from afar, acting as a remote detonator. Hakkō Taiyō’s ability simply put, allows Izaya to generate flames from the chakrams at will.
Bankai
Name: Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō (壮大輝く発光太陽, Grand Shining Luminescent Sun)
Bankai Release Phrase: Bankai!: Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō (壮大輝く発光太陽, Grand Shining Luminescent Sun)
Released Appearance: This is a large and monstrous version of Izaya’s Shikai. During the activation of Bankai, he throws Hakkō Taiyō into the air and directly above his head. The two chakrams explode into a bright pink flame which slams down on Izaya, resulting in an explosion of flames in the immediate area. After the explosion subsides, Izaya is revealed to be surrounded by a large ethereal humanoid mass of condensed reishi and flames. This ethereal structure is made up of two entirely different sides that are conjoined along their spine, both of which have a distinct face and can rotate upon Izaya’s will. The front face has elongated canine teeth in its lower jaw bracket and two tusks growing from said jaw, while the back face has similarly elongated canine teeth in its upper jaw bracket and a single horn protruding from its forehead. It wields a pair of undulating blades, one being held by the right hand and left hand of both of its sides, giving it a total of four. Just like Shikai, Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō can be controlled through Izaya’s hand motions or will. Given the size of this Bankai, Izaya can’t maneuver with it in midair, therefore he has to shrink the size of it. When shrunken, Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō forms only a large ribcage around Izaya’s entire body, which acts as a shield while giving him some mobility back. While still only having access to a quarter of its original size, Izaya still has the capabilities to produce the arms of the Bankai, albeit in exchange for some mobility. The other weakness of this Bankai along with its size, is the capabilities needed to sustain it. A sufficiently powerful attack can result in damage being done to this Bankai, which leaves Izaya open to attack. This Bankai also cannot defend against attacks, which do not actually deal physical damage to it, such as strong lights, and sounds, anything of which can impair the user's ability to sustain this Bankai.

Bankai Special Ability: Much like his Shikai, Izaya can manipulate flames in his Bankai, but to a much larger scale. Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō can also contribute towards some of Izaya’s fire-based kido spells. The size and mass of its reishi acts as an augmenter or catalyst towards the spells that posses a flame affinity.
Abilities

Name: Kagutsuchi (不死鳥翼, Flame Control)
State: Shikai
Terms of Usage:This technique can be activated without any special terms or conditions.
Description: This technique summons a dome of fire the size of a football arena. This dome is simply for entrapment purposes to prevent anyone from leaving or interfering in the fight. But, Izaya is able to conceal his entire presence within the flames (until he re-emerges) that create this dome and emerge from any point he chooses to launch surprise attacks.
Downside: Izaya himself cannot leave this dome unless he releases the entire technique. The other downside is that both he and his opponent have the limited distance of about a football field. This technique can only be used once per battle and lasts for 8 posts (not including the same post that the technique is activated in).
Name: Yasaka Magatama (八坂ノ勾玉, Eight Slope Curved Jewels)
State: Bankai
Terms of Usage: This technique can be activated without any special terms or conditions.
Description: Through the use of Bankai, Izaya is able to create the Yasaka Magatama from any of its hands, which can comprise of a single magatama to several bound together through their respective centres by a thread of reishi. Due to this structure, the magatama act in a similar manner to that of a launched projectile when thrown by Sōdai Kagayaku Hakkō Taiyō — rapidly spinning towards the intended target — and result in a powerful collision upon impact. The size of the created projectiles are dependent upon the user's intent and situation, with smaller variations often used when fighting in close quarters or confined spaces.
Downside: This technique has a recharge time of 5-10 posts depending on how much energy is put into the attack. It cannot be used in rapid succession.
