Appearance:

Ability
Personality:
Shy, Scared, and generally a person to avoid people. He has a problem with getting close to people due to the fact that he sees ghosts and monsters as if they were solid, leaving him unable to tell the difference between things of the living world and things of the dead. He also has trouble trusting people, making him seem very weird since he doesn't hang out with people often. Generally, he has a habit of straying away from crowds and he is a horrible fighter. He enjoys playing video games and reading books. His favorite places are his room and in cemeteries. He has a knack for history and can pick up and remember almost all historical events he reads about and sees. This knack does not extend to his other subjects in school though, making many teachers feel as if he simply doesn't find their class interesting. When he is playing video games or at an archeological site, he becomes very outspoken. He is always the leader of teams in video games and dig sites, taking the initiative to find all he can and organize his team very well. He is a capable strategist and has quite the knowledge of the human mind and how enemy players act in video games after only a few matches. His other talent is telling whether he should trust someone or not. He can tell the worth of a persons personality after only one or two days, leading many people to be fired off their team when they had their minds focused on stealing priceless artifacts or historical data from him. Due to this, his teams are always divided between the people who love him for making the team so coordinated and the people who disdain him for getting rid of people so often.
Story:
Zachary, known as Zach to most people, was born the son of an archeologist and a college history teacher. This meant that, while he was growing up, he had access to more information on history than most colleges. He read history books from his mother, the school teacher, instantly getting immersed in the idea of learning from the past. He would sometimes lock himself in the family library in order to read his books as long as he could. As supporting parents, Zach's parents gave the library to him. It became everything to him, his home school classroom, his library, his bedroom, his play room, and his reading room. By the age of 13, he had read almost every history book in the room, not surprising since he started reading the history books and dig site archives at the age of 5. He emerged on his 14th birthday for the first time in years. His parents were in shock when they saw him. His body was thin and frail, his skin was white and pale. His skin was tight to his bones. But, during the examination of the first time they saw their son in years, his parents saw something that they had seldom seen in the entire world. A look of pure satisfaction and determination gained purely through history. His body was nearly a withered husk, but his mind was sharp as a needle. He was enjoying his time in there and his parents could clearly tell.
After about a year of rehabilitation, Zach was finally fit to enter the world he had left behind for his world of books. Every bit of knowledge in that library was contained in his mind and he enjoyed it, but he also knew things about human nature due to the books. They taught him the signs of someone lying, the history of nations, the ideology of religions, and the ferocity of nature. He had a deep understanding for every government and how they should be set up. At the age of 15 and a half, Zach was finally enrolled in a high school. His grades were, in all subjects but history, average. However, in history, his grades far surpassed even the smartest high school student in the school. For this, he was generally beaten. But, due to his knowledge of humanity, he knew about the fights before they even started to happen simply by observing people's looks and their movement. He was smart enough to generally seek refuge when he knew a fight was coming. On weekends and on breaks, Zach always went with his father to dig sites, pointing out people he thought had either stolen something or found something that they weren't sharing with the rest of the dig site. 98% of the time, Zach was right. He also suggested places to dig. Due to his knowledge of histories, countries, geology, geography, and human nature, he was able to predict where some big discoveries were made. He found an ancient city hidden in a cave, a few hidden caches of historical records from countries, and quite a few war zones and battlefields. Whenever he went on a dig with his father, their was always a large discovery and Zach would study the study fervently. He would study everything he could, and would spend time out in the dig sites, carefully excavating even when all other members of the crew went to sleep. Due to this, his father made quite a large sum of money due to all his sponsorships from all his recent discoveries. Most of this money was divided. 45% went to Zach whereas 40% went to his father and mother and 20% went to the house bills.
By the time he was 16, his name was known through the world, though he refused interviews and never let out any pictures due to fear of being both kidnapped and abused at school. During a fight which, for some reason, he was unable to predict, he felt as if he was being hit by an invisible arm during the fight. He looked around and still saw nothing until he started to see heat waves holding his legs, then it got more and more solid.. Eventually, he saw a black beast with a bone mask attacking him and ignoring the other students. It barely took 4 minutes for Zachary to pass out and fall to the ground, hitting his shadow, but making no "thud" noise... It was as if he hit a puddle of water...
He woke up to see his shadow flowing off his body and the person in front of him riddled with cuts and holes. Soon, his shadow flowed back to the ground and went back to normal and he was alone, standing in a puddle of blood.
The History of the Past (Gemini's history)
Feudal Japan, during the years when outsiders were feared and scorned, existed a small group that helped the outsiders adapt and come into the country. They were known as the Young Undead. They were known for this due to the fact that no matter how many were killed, they seemed to rejoin the army. This was due to the fact that every member of the Young Undead wore a black cloak and a white blank mask with two eye-slits. Thus, whenever you killed one, you would see the same mask and cloth on the other members, making them seem like an endless supply of soldiers from hell.
This organization of "eternal soldiers" was led by two brothers. Jace Veloren and Alystar Veloren. Both of them were among the first members of the Young Undead. And setting behind them, always clad in shadow was the third brother. He was more of the iron fist of the organization, fighting whenever it was needed. His name was Gemini Veloren and he was fundamentally different from his brothers and the starting member of the Young Undead. He was seemingly unable to be fatally wounded, could move at speeds as if he vanished and re-appeared (truly this was him unconsciously sinking into his shadow, and popping out of his enemies), and when he killed someone, which was very rare, their body seemed to fade out of existence, as if being consumed by shadow. Every time one would die and vanish in this way, he would gain more knowledge and more power, each time becoming more and more like the people he absorbed. His main purpose was to meet outsiders at the docks and escort them to a nearby Young Undead outpost or base, depending on the town. Due to his unique gift of shadow manipulation and photographic memory, he was the best suited for this, able to shield with shadows and stab with them in the same movement and find the shortest paths to any destination. However, he had an ideal that a soldier should be fought, not as a monster, but as another soldier. Thus, he had learned the art of Bushido, the way of the sword. Whenever he was ambushed, the enemy was impaled, but if he was challenged, he would create an armor of shadow and a shadow sword, and face the enemy, Swordsman to Swordsman. Due to this, his skill with a blade become legendary. He memorized the slightest twists of a persons body to see their next strike and he thus learned how to counter based on these slight movements.
During a few transports, Zach discovered something unusual. After having absorbed a good amount of samurai over the years, as well as traveling priests, he started to see large black monsters with white masks and holes in their chest. He had no clue what they were, but they were an enemy that provided a wide degree of challenges. He had trouble with some, and dispatched most with ease, absorbing their bodies into the shadow. Slowly, he noticed a voice appeared in the back of his mind, growing louder and louder with each masked one (known to us as hollows) he absorbed. After he had spent roughly 5 years absorbing the beasts, a peculiar dream occurred. In this dream, he was standing in the dark, surrounded by nothing. In the distance, however, he saw a man standing firm, unaffected by the shadows that tried to devour him. This was Gemini's first encounter with the demon Kyouga Minamoto. This encounter ended when he awoke during the morning, but still felt so real to him that he had to assure himself that he wasn't still dreaming. He brushed it off, but kept remembering the man in his dreams and how he was inspired, and awed, by his presence.
During a raid on the main Young Undead base, during a time of heavy outsider import, the base had all of its members in it from the nation. However, all the outsiders that they had brought in turned out to be soldiers in disguise who tore off their clothes and brandished their weapons all at once, at the same time the outside of the base was being assaulted. During this time, Gemini was at the dock, half the island away. When he finally made it to the base, most of the Young Undead lay lying on the floor, at the feet of over 300 Japanese Samurai. At this moment, Gemini flipped a switch in his head and impaled them all with a shadow tendril and crushed them flat with a large shadow, absorbing the enemy into the shadow. His shadow started to gain a life of it's own however and started to attack the few surviving Young Undead. He impaled himself on a stray sword stuck in a wall, only to find that four bodies were impaled on the sword before he could get to it, leaving no room for him to jump onto it, and the process repeated for every blade in the room, leaving him only the option to take control of his shadow and impale himself with it. Little did he know, that in doing so, he would absorb his shadow, and thus loose his physical form, become a shadow himself.
The Pact (Gemini meets Kyouga)
Some time after "Zach's Incident" a Demi-Demon that had been watching Gemini for a while. He was especially interested in understanding this peculiar anomaly that seemed to get stronger with every Hollow it "absorbed". It's way of absorbing these dark souls was nothing he had seen from a pure shadow before. He even predicted that the anomaly would be able to become stronger than him. Furthermore, since it was a living shadow, it could not die as long as there was some form of darkness.
One day, he approached the anomaly in a formal manner, only to be impaled by many of dark tendrils. Fortunately, his resistance to darkness kept the shadow from causing him any serious damage. The shadow then decided to attempt to swallow the man whole, but stopped when he introduced himself. It was none other than Kyouga Minamoto, and he wanted to make a deal with the shadow. They formed a contract that would allow Gemini to live again, on the condition that Gemini would be loyal to Kyouga. However, the body he would occupy would be the first person to enter the resting place of his former army, The Young Undead. Little did either of them know that Zachary Verias would be the host, and Kyouga didn't expect Gemini to exist as Zach's shadow.
History End. Powers Below.
Zachary Verias - His powers are limited to a photographic memory and the use of Gemini's powers (though he can't use them all). His initial ability is to, whenever he takes a large sum of damage, to switch places with Gemini. He is turned into a shadow, and Gemini becomes a real person once more.
Gemini - Gemini is a being of shadow. His life is made of shadow, and should he die, he will simply swap places with Zachary again.
Shadow Manipulation: Gemini's ability allows him to manipulate the shadows that surround him, though not himself. He can manipulate the shadows into anything that has been absorbed into them. Mainly, this includes swords and shields, as well as other unique weapons.
Body Manipulation: Gemini's other shadow manipulation has to do with manipulating his body due to the fact it is made of shadows. Due to this he can fuse with the shadow and move through them (he is still the dominant body and his "shadow" is still Zach). He can also form the shadows around his body and use any person's limbs (in shadow form) that he has absorbed with Shadow Absorption. Due to this, he can create shadow limbs to coat his own, boosting his physical abilities to the skill of the limb he is forming from. He can NOT half-form his body. If he forms the legs of a gold-medalist, he must take the rest of their body, or no other body part at all. (Prevention from him making his body the best possible)
Shadow Absorption: Gemini's mainstay ability is the ability to absorb things into his shadow. He can absorb almost any man-made weapon with minimal effort. He can absorb people as well, but only if they are "recently deceased" (as in, he most likely killed them). When he absorbs a weapon, he can recreate the weapons form with the shadow manipulation ability. This does NOT recreate the powers in the weapons. If he absorbs a person, he gains all of their knowledge and skill when he is using something pertaining to them. For instance, if he absorbed a sword master, he would only have the sword masters knowledge when using a sword, not when he was using another weapon. A side effect to this is that the skill and dexterity he uses from people he absorbs are only about 1/2 their skill.
Shadow Fusion: Locked : This ability is unlocked when Zachary fights a certain enemy and refuses to leave his body when Gemini tries to take over. This causes a fusion of souls between them. During this time, Zach and Gemini's mind fuse. This allows the use of the shadows at a much higher degree. He also is able to cause 4 small shadows to form around him as floating orbs. If they both agree on an action, they take it with their main body, but if not, they each manipulate 2 small shadow orbs. The orbs can fuse together to make a shadow body for each to control, but they have a lesser control of shadows in the orb form.

Zach's ability is to switch places with his shadow, which is infused with the soul of a swordsman named Gemini, who has the ability to manipulate shadows. Gemini's signature ability is to create weapons out of shadows, mainly swords.
