Human Name: Fukuda, Haruko
Shinigami Name: Chikako, Leiko
Age: 117
Division: 2
Rank : Lieutenant
Residence: Squad 2 Barracks
Appearance:
Personality: Leiko is generally a cold person. She holds herself above all others, apart from a select few that she is dreadfully faithful to. If annoyed, she easily calls others ‘worm’, ‘vermin’, ‘insect’, etc. Without hesitation. To those that Leiko is loyal to, she is a steadfast almost to a fault, and is much friendlier to said leader/partner than others. Though she doesn’t like to show it, she is actually a very playful person and loves toying with people in the worst ways.
Story:
Human Life: Haruko Fukuda grew up in a wealthy family in Edo during the late 1700s. At a young age, she learned that the only truth in life was that money and power was all that mattered. Adnorned in a splended new kimono every day, she was the only child to two completely different people. Her mother was desperate for the father's attention, whom dedicated most of his time to his daughter and , unfortunately, heavy gambling. The mother, Keiko, quickly grew jealous of Haruko before the girl had even turned ten, and ignored her, spending most of her time gossiping with the other wealthy community folk. While she lived an ideal life (or so she thought), she also had the ability to see ghosts. This terrified her to no end.
Haruko grew very close to her nanny, Akeginu, and viewed her as the nearest thing she would ever get to a real mother. As she grew into her early teens, her father, Hyoma, began to waste his money away gambling and drinking and visiting the local cheap brothel. Growing deep into debt, Keiko suggested marrying Haruko off to a wealthy young nobleman, of course the motive being so that the young man's family might be prosperous enough to get them free from debt. The potential groom, a 17 year old buck toothed boy with severe acne, brought his family over to the desperate Fukuda's manor. Immediately met with a brutish greeting by drunken Hyoma, they aggressively declined the marraige proposal and ruined the Fukuda's reputation.
Only 14 years old at the time, Haruko was blamed by Keiko, who remained in denial that her perfect husband was in the wrong. Hyoma cared not for the matter, and dismissed it quickly. At this point, he was drowned in alcohol every day and night and only came home to gather furnishings and clothes to sell for money to dilly-dally and gamble. Finally, the family had barely any money left and were forced out of their now empty manor. Keiko, enraged and saddened by her situation, left Hyoma and her daughter to commit suicide in the forest of Aokigahara.
Akeginu reluctantly abandoned Haruko to go work for another wealthy family, trying to wash her hands of the ugly turn that things had taken. Lost in despair, young Haruko looked now to her father for help. It was then that one of the people he'd gambled with noticed her, and made a suggestion that if Hyoma wished to regain some of his lost money, he should sell his daughter to a brothel. Sucked into his addictions, Hyoma thought greatly of the idea. Not long after, Haruko found herself in the poorest district of Edo, living as a prostitute and surrounded by others in her same position.
A few months passed, including her birth date in early December. Now 16, it neared the end of 1799. The fierce cold, dry air she lived in caused her to grow ill. On New Years Eve, a man came calling. Adorned in the clothes of a high society local, he demanded to bring one of the brothel women to a more comfortable place of his choosing, rather than fornicate in the awful, rat infested rooms that lay in the brothel. After promising to pay a mighty mon to the brothel keeper, Haruko was released to the man's custody for the night.
Exiting the brothel, Haruko and the man came upon a hooded woman who gave thanks to the man, dismissing him. Walking a distance away to hide themselves in a small shack, the woman revealed herself as the girl's old nanny, Akeginu. Haruko was thrown into a vigorous happiness, finding someone who had loved her like a daughter so long ago. Taking a long, much needed bath, Akeginu waited in the other room, drinking tea. Haruko finished, dressing herself before going back into the other room where her nanny waited. Sliding the door open, she paused in alarm as she was met with an unfamiliar gentleman standing before the closet.
"Where's Akeginu-dono?" She asked, thinking he was a friend of Akeginu's. The man closed the dark closet and turned, smiling pleasently and explaining that she went to run an errand. Frowning, Haruko and the young man sat across from eachother with a small fire between them. Talking for only a few moments, she stood back up to go get him a blanket from the closet. He insisted he didn't need one, and bolted up as she quickly crossed the room to the closet. Opening the door, a foul stench invaded her nostrils. Her eyes fell to the darkened floor, where Akeginu lay in the fetal position, her throat cut and bleeding into the towels and blankets, leaving no trace of the red liquid outside the closet.
Before she could even register what to do, she felt the heat from the stranger's body close behind her; his eyes could have melted a hole in the back of her head, he was staring so menacingly. She quickly grabbed a metal pipe that was leaning against the wall, whirling around and swinging the sharpened pole at him. The young man jumped back, the tip of the pipe grazing his cheek. Before he had time to react again, Haruko fell into a rage, tears streaming from her eyes. She grabbed him by the throat, impaling him with the pipe and jamming him into a wall. Walking back over to the closet, she grasped more metal, sharpened pipes and thrust them through the stranger's body in multiple places. While cursing him for killing the only human being who'd ever cherished her, she hadn't noticed his free hand.
A small knife rested in his palm, and once she was emotionally distracted enough, he stabbed forward, slamming the thing deep into her naval, then dragged it up to her sternum. Her entrails began to poke forth from the wound, blood and stomach acid pouring all over the floor. He muttered a nasty remark about how he would not be the only one to die tonight, and all poor Haruko could think of was Akeginu. Falling to the floor, she crawled over to the closet, gathering Akeginu in her arms and stroking the woman's hair gently.
Haruko's life faded away as the bell tolled outside, signaling the beginning of the new century.
Plus Life: Haruko's soul lay attached to the brothel she lived in for almost half a year. For 93 years, she lived as a mute, apathetic soul that wandered the streets and alleys around the brothel, which burned down in the mid 1800s, killing all who remained inside, unable to escape. Once in a while a psychic would approach her domain, seeking the souls of those that had died in the fire. Instead, they would find silent Haruko staring them down with malevolance. Hollows would corner her continuously; it was simply luck that had been on her side for once, that caused her to escape them. She tried to remain apathetic, but slowly, she began feeling such despair and hatred... Finally, a shinigami arrived at her burnt little hobble. He was very kind, and offered her a way out... the Soul Society, he'd said. Off she went, to start a new 'life' with the potential to save other tormented souls such as herself.
Shinigami Life: Leiko joined the Shinigami Academy soon after being sent to the Soul Society. Graduating after a little less than 2 years, the young woman was drawn to Squad 2. Being an acrobatic fighter and quick on her feet, it seemed like a perfect fit. There, she met Mukuro Sazumushi.
Current Life: Currently she is training.

Leiko awoke from a deep sleep, sitting up and rubbing her eyes with the knuckles on her right hand. The other rested comfortabley in her lap.
She could already feel the gnappy mess her hair was in. Sighing heavily, she simply stared ahead at the wall blankly for a few moments, not feeling like brushing the gloriously platinum blonde locks down from their mess on top of her head. "Nn." Finally with a grumble, she turned, sliding her legs over the side of the bed. They met the hard, cold wood of the floor, and the girl furrowed her brows somewhat. What a horribly unpleasent way to wake up. She thought, sitting forward and then standing up.
