haha yeah, i just realized i can find the dang sharpen tool on gimp, i think its connected to the blur tool, but the shortcut key they suggest is a huge bummer XD

You could always go to Filters>Enchance>Sharpen. :P
You don't have to use the sharpen tool you know. Filter is the easy way. Make sure you do a copy visible layer first, or the filter won't work.
New Layer, then hit: Ctrl+Shift+C and Ctrl+V. ;D

Yeah, say that your last layer is a brush layer (like a circle or something).
It would only sharpen that circle, not the rest of your image. :P
I love Gimp, I got the hang of it the first time I used it. What I don't get is how people find it hard to use. They think it's not "newbie friendly". D:

The first yellow red thing, wtf. What the hell is it.
The second blue thing, wtf. What the hell is it.
And the guy....now that just sad. The proportions were totally off, his clothes had no dimensions so it look like a big black blob.[Of course if you are trying to make a Picasso painting you did well]
Other then that his hair was nice.

This one looks like a fire on crack.
The colors are nice, it's kinda blurry though.
