Akimoto Mifune

As a human Aki lived a quite fruitful life. Back when they were alive they carried a much different name, but now it no longer matters. Aki lived with their father, mother and older brother. Aki was closest to their brother and two friends in high school. They lived a simple, normal life in a busy city. They would wake up every morning and go to school, attend a club or hang out friends, return home and have dinner. They weren’t very active though, they just did what they had to, and wasting energy wasn’t a favorite thing of Aki’s. But they did have a strong interest in art. Creation was the main thing that kept them going in their gray life. But no matter how much fun Aki had they knew this happiness wouldn’t last, eventually it’ll come to an end, and things like that tired them out and eventually would sink them into a dark abyss. One late evening while out with friends Aki walked home alone through the busy streets. A little hungry they walked into the convenience store to buy a lil snack for on the way home, while reaching for their wallet Aki noticed the cashier suddenly had a frightening look on his face. Aki turned around to see a man carrying a gun straight into Aki’s head, before they could even let out a single breathe the man said, “Empty the register or else this kid’s going down.” A women in the back started screaming which signaled his friend to knock out the lady. The part timer cashier almost immediately started doing what he was told, Aki stood still staring at the gun with a blank look. While the friend surveyed the area Aki noticed a young school girl shaking staring at the door. Aki could only think, ’don’t run, he’ll shoot you. Don’t just stay still’. But of course the thoughts didn’t reach the girl for she bolted at the door, immediately noticing the one who pointed the gun at them changed directions and was ready to pull the trigger at the innocent school girl, just then Aki, as if by instinct, moved their feet to catch the bullet.

They woke up a moment later and looked around the surrounding, everything seemed fine, it seemed as if they fell asleep at the store and just woke up. But something was different, there was a chain attached to their chest. “What the?”, they followed the chain to outside the store where heavy rain hit the pavements and washed away the blood. Aki looked to see a crowd surrounding an ambulance, “Wake up!” a familiar voice rang out in the middle of the crowd, Aki ran toward the center to see their brother holding the cold body, Aki’s body. She merely fell to their knees and laughed, “Is this my punishment? Am I dead?” Just then a man cloaked in black descended to the ground next to them and laughed, “Yup, sorry about that.” Aki looked to the side and saw this strange figure, “What are you, a grim reaper?” He chuckled back, “Yeah I guess if that’s what you humans call it these days. Don’t worry the soul society is a great place for souls.” “Yeah shut up your liar, I don’t believe in a god, so where am I gonna go?” “Figure it out” with that he stamped their head with the back of his sword. As Aki descended into the ground they caught one last glance of their brother.
In the Rukongai Aki was left in one of the most dangerous districts, through some weird chance their body was changed as well, into a younger thinner version of their human self. In a dog eat dog district full of criminals and dangerous souls Aki stole to survive and barely keep alive. It was there they built their soul and self. In a world they were reborn into where they knew nothing but what was in front of them. Zaraki was their soul teacher. Suffering death and evil were all something Aki was. One night Aki saw an empty camp in the woods and stole one of the bags and made a run for it. To their luck one of the members saw them and chased after the young soul with a butchers knife, hungry for their blood. While running Aki tripped on a tree branch, while quickly shuffling to get up the murderous soul got a hold of them and swung their arm, when just at the last moment a mysterious figure came out and perished the criminal. It was a rogue warrior named Hanzo Mifune. Soon after Aki followed their savior around the rukongai to save other unfortunate souls, though one day they both stopped their travels to join the academy, to train and grow stronger to protect. Before entering the academy Aki adopted the name “Akimoto” to enter, for they have long forgotten their human name.

In the academy Aki was no better than they were in the human world. Hanzo quickly aced all the classes to enter a division while Aki slowly went through the academy days to more or less pass time. They were rarely devoted to their studied in the laws and ways of the soul society, kido training wasn’t any better. Controlling their reiatsu to one focal point wasn’t their best abilities. Though when it came to hand to hand combat as well as kendo Aki excelled at it very quickly, they weren’t placed in the advanced classes but Aki stood at the top when it came to physical training. Any opponent that came their way, Aki knocked them down with no troubles. After a few years with poor grades Aki graduated from the class and entered the 6th division where for many years they spent training and going on low ranked missions under their old friend Hanzo. Soon Aki was ranked to be a vice captain of the 6th. After a brief mission into the world of the living Hanzo disappeared, which left Aki as the temporary Captain of the 6th division for a brief period of time.

After a few years Aki left the 6th to become the captain of the third division, where they reside now. A city plagued by acidic rain that never seems to stop. They live their life in solidarity. Over the years Aki has been involved in various incidents that led them to become a vizard as well as loose their left arm and even steal an limb from a former vice captain,(explained later on).
