I Am Human Pawn On A Chess Board
Basic Information:
Name: Ushiwaka Hanasaki
Nicknames: Waka, The Gods' Gift To Man (Self-Proclaimed), The Half-Baked Prophet
Age: 24
Gender: Heterosexual Male
Residence: Sasebo, Japan, Though He's An Avid Traveler
Clan / Organization: None
Appearance: Waka has long, messy, golden colored hair pulled back and tied in a loose ponytail that falls down to the small of his back. His eyes are bluish gray colored, though he usually keeps his eyes closed. He has two birth marks above either eyebrow, but other than that, his skin is flawless, and peach colored in complexion. He has a slim and lanky build, yet his body is a bit toned. He stands at around 6'4" (including his geta) and weighs in at 168 pounds. If I had to give Waka a voice, I'd say his is that of Masaya Onosaka, renowned for his work as the seiyū of Vash The Stampede from Trigun, one of my all time favorite animes. Waka dresses rather flamboyantly and strangely for this day and age, and is often considered mentally ill by his neighbors. He wears a bright pink kosode with two large, fuzzy balls (lawl) that look like buttons (though they don't function that way), a deep purple hakama, and a white hakama-himo with his Kodachi tucked in it. Waka's Kodachi has an 18 inch blade and a 6 inch handle, a white hilt wrapping, rectangular tsuba, and a glossy black saya. Footwear consists of white tabi socks and "tall Tengu geta", which are wooden sandals with a single tooth that's ridiculously long; this would appear to make him easy to knock down, but he moves more skillfully than he lets on. Possibly the flashiest and most ridiculous part of Waka's attire is his headdress, consisting of a field gray colored hawk head, made of a light weight stone like material, with a long, flowing, wing-like cloak attached. Waka always carries a wooden flute (which is his Fullbring source), and is rather skilled at playing it.
Sometimes when planning to go out in public, he is prompted by his sister, Fuu, to wear "normal" clothing. In these terms, Waka wears dark blue jeans hemmed at his ankles with a deep purple colored belt, a long sleeved white Henley shirt rolled up his forearms, a loose, bright pink hoodie zipped three quarters of the way down, and a pair of red flip flops. In substitute for his headdress, Waka wears a field gray colored pair of '80's headphones around his neck, with the wire running into his sweatshirt pocket and connecting to nothing. Also in substitute, this time for his Kodachi, Waka carries an ornamental tantō. The tantō is 8 inches long, making it easy to slip into the back of his belt. It is deep purple in color and embroidered with bright pink peach designs. Of course, Waka also carries his flute.
Self-Portrait:
Personality: Waka is a very pompous person, claiming he is "The Gods' Gift To Man". Both Waka and his sister, Fuu, are Sake Brewers, and are widely renowned for it in Sasebo. Their most popular brew is their "Flower Bloom Brew", a Nigori sake with a honeyed flavor. Expectantly, Waka can hold his liquor quite well, usually taking an entire barrel to get him drunk. Waka tends to make his actions over exaggeratedly smooth and graceful, something that annoys his sister. While he may appear to be homosexual to some people at first glance, he is in fact heterosexual, and can sometimes even be a bit of a womanizer. No matter the situation, Waka never shows any signs of being upset or fearful. He also has a habit of rarely being direct; he prefers vague hints that he calls "prophecies" over straight information. His "prophecies" tend to be unhelpful, as it is observed to be so only in hindsight. Waka also has a great deal of playfulness to his personality; even when he is taking things seriously, he refers to it in a light-hearted manner. He also has a great sense of humor. He often peppers his speech with French expressions, such as "mon amie" and "ma chérie". Actually, he speaks four languages, and all fluently: Japanese, English, French, and Spanish.
Your Legacy:
Your Story: Waka was born on April 2nd, 1XXX (I have no idea what the current year is), in San Francisco, California. His father was a light hearted, strong man named Makoto Hanasaki, who was a Rōnin, or a Samurai without a Lord. According to the Bushido Shoshinshu (the Code of the Samurai), a Samurai was supposed to commit Oibara Seppuku (also "Hara Kiri" – ritual suicide) upon the loss of his Lord. One who chose not to honor the code was "on his own" and was meant to suffer great shame. The undesirability of Rōnin status was mainly a discrimination imposed by other Samurai and by the Daimyo (the feudal lords). Thus, Makoto left Japan for America to start a family. He intended to do so with his already pregnant lover, the sake-brewer Nami, who was beautiful, kind hearted, and soft spoken. One night, after eating oranges dipped in sour cream, Nami, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, stumbled home. On her way, she notified a small, humanoid Hollow of her particularly delicious soul, and so he began to follow her. Once Nami took a shortcut through an alleyway, the Hollow attacked her. Claws sprang from the humanoid Hollow and slashed Nami across her left arm, tearing through her flesh and leaving her arm streaming blood. Luckily, a Shinigami had felt the Hollow's Reiatsu and swiftly arrived. Nami was taken to a hospital and made a full recovery, and Waka was born an exact month later.
Waka was born in San Francisco, but the family quickly moved to New York City in search of jobs and cheaper housing. Here, Waka was raised until he was 3, which was when the family finally decided it was time to move into a quieter area. So, the family traveled to Nagasaki, Japan. Growing up in Nagasaki was easy for Waka. The small seaport village was very calm and easy to relax in, and occasionally a traveler would come by, providing some excitement once in a while. When Waka was 6, his mother became pregnant again, this time with a girl. On January 26th, Fuu was born.
At 18 months old, Fuu was diagnosed with Tuberculosis, devastating to the Hanasaki family. Luckily, Fuu survived, but still deals with it to this day. Anyway, Fuu was a sweet little girl, and is now, like her mother, kind hearted, caring, and gentle, though she can be a bit irritable.
Around the age of 8, Waka started to develop his current personality. He was bullied by peers and made fun of by adults. Despite this, Waka still remained unique. When Waka was 10, his father started to teach him the Arts of Kendo and Iaido. Most importantly, Makoto taught Waka the Principles of Jeet Kune Do and the Bushido Principle of Immediacy. The two spent a large amount of time together training, and so, they forged a very strong bond.
A family of Yakuza, an extremely organized crime gang of Japan, visited Nagasaki for business one day. A few of the members had heard of a Rōnin in the town, and as stated before, being a Rōnin was frowned upon, so they went to dishonor him even more. The group discovered the location of Makoto, and challenged him to a duel, six to one. A normal man would’ve denied the request, but Makoto’s pride disallowed him to do so. But, the group of the Yakuzas was quite inexperienced in the way of the sword, and he cut them down with ease. Spiteful as the Yakuza are, they hired a feared assassin to murder the Rōnin in penance of their brothers’ death. The assassination was, unfortunately, a success. The assassin crept away and left a 12 year old Waka to find his father with a hole in his chest seeping blood. Filled with sorrow and anger, Waka searched for the assassin for almost an entire two years obsessively, but never found him. To this day, Waka prays he can avenge Makoto. This shaped a new personality for Waka: an edgy, bitter young man who couldn't trust anyone.
One day, when Waka was 15 and still bitter towards the world, an old man named Takashi came to him at the docks. The old man was spiritually aware and a Special Human, and sensed Waka's Fullbring abilities. The two quickly became friends, and Takashi taught Waka of Shinigami, Hollows, Special Humans, Arrancars, Vizards, and so on. Waka trained with him for two years, regaining his old/current personality. On the day that Waka accomplished his Fullbring, he met a 16 year old Amaterasu, and the two took a liking to each other. Ever since then, Waka occasionally summons her for fun, though mostly for battle and stuff. However, Waka never fully perfected his abilities, due to the fact that Takashi had developed Alzheimer's. Waka buried Takashi himself on July 7th, when he was 17.
While living his remaining months in Nagasaki, Nami taught Waka and Fuu how to brew sake, in order to make money. Without Makoto, however, the family never made enough money, and soon an 18 year old Waka and a 12 year old Fuu were forced to leave their mother in Nagasaki. The two traveled as stowaways North until they hit Sasebo, a very small traditional Japanese farming village. The two have lived there ever since, and started their own sake brewery. Waka has been taking it as his responsibility to protect the Pluses around him ever since they moved into Sasebo, therefore training intensely every day, through Fullbring, physical strength, awareness, durability, speed, and so on. Currently, Waka lives with his 18 year old sister, Fuu, in Sasebo, taking care of her while she is being affected by the Tuberculosis, and running the sake brewery with her.

RP-Sample: Waka strolled along to the market place in Sasebo, looking to purchase some essentials. His younger sister, Fuu, followed behind him, clearly annoyed at his manner of walking. " Mon mimi, would you please keep up? " Waka said to his sister politely. " I'm trying, you're just walking a bit too fast. " Fuu responded. While she would never admit it, she liked it when Waka referred to her in French. Right now, he just called her his pussycat. Waka stopped walking for a minute and allowed his sister to catch up. " I'm sorry for rushing you. I should be happy that you're able to walk at all today. " He smiled at his sister once she caught up, looking down to do so, as he towered over most people while wearing his tall geta. Of course, as usual when he walked around outside in his full garb, a few people stared as they passed by, but most people were used to seeing him dressed like that and just shrugged it off. Without warning, Waka sensed strong Reiatsus coming from the forest to the East. " On second thought, mon mimi, I have to take care of a little business. Please wait for me at the market. Au revoir, baby. " With that, Waka sprinted off due East, towards the source of the Reiatsu, leaving behind him a confused Fuu, who stomped the ground and shouted aloud, " Dammit! I hate it when he does that! " Soon after finishing her complaint, she erupted into a coughing fit.
Waka still sprinted towards the source of the Reiatsu, moving swifter than one would imagine on his ridiculous shoes. Once he reached the edge of town and he was sure no one could see him, he let out an immense Bringer Light, and reached his destination twice as fast as he would've just sprinting. He came to a clearing with a single Hollow loping around, searching for a Plus it had sensed in the area. Waka leapt onto a branch of a tall tree, his presence still undetected by the Hollow. Waka also sensed the presence of the Plus, though there was nothing he could do for it except save it. " Bonjour, Hollow-san! " Waka shouted down to the Hollow, drawing its attention. Without wasting any time, Waka dived towards the Hollow, drawing his Kodachi mid-air and using a somersault to gain velocity. However, the Hollow quickly reacted and blocked Waka's strike easily with his forearm. Waka placed his feet onto the Hollow's forearm and sprang off, sending himself towards the ground. The second his feet touched down, he sent his Kodachi flying towards the Hollow. The Hollow swept it aside, again with ease, but Waka merely meant for this to be used as a diversion. Drawing his wooden flute, Waka played a melody consisting of four notes in a descending order. In an instant, his flute extended into a 62 inch polearm, and sprung a blade measuring 20 inches at the top. Waka spun the newly formed Naginata like a windmill around his body. He charged at the hollow, leaping over a swipe and thrusting the large weapon into the Hollow's bicep, causing it to spray blood all over the place. Quickly, Waka heaved his Naginata out of the Hollow's arm with a mighty jump, sending himself across the Hollow's face. With a blindingly fast down stroke, he sliced the Hollow's mask in half, also splitting its face. The Hollow slammed onto the ground, and faded away into darkness. " I bid you adieu, Mr. Hollow. " Waka strode over to his fallen Kodachi, picked it up and sheathed it. He converted his Naginata into a flute again and slid it into its holder on his back. Waka looked around for the Plus, but could not find it. Oh well... Not like I could help it anymore than I already did. Waka thought. He shrugged it off and started to make his way back to the market place.
Kangen Jutsu (Fullbring) Information:
Name: Pillow Talk
Full bring source: A Wooden Flute
Terms of usage: Waka could play one of two melodies to activate either one of his Fullbring abilities. The melodies are within the spoiler box below.
The Melodies:
Fullbring Bond: Waka's had the flute since he was 8, and occasionally will randomly whip it out and play a soft melody. He is quite good at playing also.
Description: As stated before, Waka could play one of two melodies to activate either one of his Fullbring abilities. If Waka plays the melody from 0:00 to 0:06, the flute will extend into a Naginata, solely for combat purposes. The Naginata has a blade that is 20 inches long, and the shaft is 62 inches long (5'2"). If he plays the melody from 0:08 to 0:24, his real Special Ability activates.
In order to activate the ability, prior to playing the melody, he has to say an incantation: " Hark! The Call Of The Heavens, The Earth, The Sea... Amaterasu, Ma Chérie, They Summon Thee To Defeat Evil! " After saying this and playing the melody, Amaterasu will appear in a radiant flash of light. Amaterasu, or Ammy for short, is a Celestial Being. A Celestial Being is a God that is unlike an actual God; A Celestial Being is not all powerful or omniscient. They can live forever, but are able to die in combat. So, really, they're not Gods at all. Anyway, Amaterasu in her human form takes the appearance of a beautiful young woman with mid length white, wavy hair, with two tufts sticking out, appearing as ears. She has peach colored skin with crimson tattoos throughout her body. She wears a tight fitting whiteGeisha's Kimono with Sun symbols and markings throughout, an earthy green obi sash, and a white, flowing stole with the ends appearing smoke like. In this form, Ammy cannot combat or do very much at all, but can stay around for as long as she likes. Amaterasu is known for being wise, quiet, mature, kind, and gentle always aiding those in need, but also unafraid to show her opinion and easily offended. She and Waka have an "old couple" sort of relationship, as they tend to bicker but never really get mad at each other, and they both have respect for one another. The two have strange habits together, such as they frequently like to spontaneously dance together, and they tend to eat cherry cakes a lot and quite gluttonously. When entering battle, Ammy takes the form of a majestic white wolf with crimson markings across her body that correspond to the ones in her Human form. While in her Wolf Form, Ammy can be equipped with weapons called Divine Instruments. There are three classes of Divine Instruments: Reflectors, Rosaries, and Glaives, each with 5 tiers. Each tier obviously becomes more and more powerful as they decrease, five being the weakest, one being the strongest. Also, each tier has its own "time limit", if you will. If each tier is used in an ascending succession, the time limit carries over. For example, if Ammy were to have a tier 5 weapon equipped for two posts and upgraded to a tier 4, the remaining time would be six posts. Ammy can only automatically access tiers 5 and 4, and after using tier 2, Ammy can no longer battle, unless she switches over to a tier 1 and obeys the time limits. Using a tier 1 weapon is extremely dangerous, however, as its power is currently overwhelming for Ammy.
Pillow Talk Naginata Form:
Amaterasu Human Form (While Dancing With Waka):
Wolf Form (Unequipped):
Techniques:
Name: Reflector
Description: The Reflector is Amaterasu's first type of Divine Instrument. This type of weapon is mainly used for defensive purposes, with balanced offensive and speed attributes. Attacks are of average damage, speed and range, making Reflectors quite balanced. While airborne, the Reflector is swung by a quick somersault, resulting in a forward swing. This is ideal against both flying and land-based foes. However, the main use of the Reflectors is, as stated before, defensively. Reflectors can act as a shield, held in front of Amaterasu for a short time. This will block enemy attacks if struck while it is active. In the case of rapid-fire attacks, Amaterasu will maintain the shield until the barrage ceases. The upper two tiers will reflect the attack back, causing 3/4 of the damage that would have been received.
Tiers Of The Reflectors:
Tier 5 (Top Right): Divine Retribution - 12 Post Duration, 4 Post Cooldown
Tier 4 (Top Left): Snarling Beast - 8 Post Duration, 6 Post Cooldown
Tier 3 (Bottom Right): Infinity Judge - 4 Post Duration, 6 Post Cooldown
Tier 2 (Bottom Left): Trinity Mirror - 2 Post Duration, Incapable of Battle Afterwards
Tier 1 (Center): Solar Flare - 1 Post Duration, Incapable of Battle Afterwards
Name: Rosary
Description: Rosaries are the second class of Divine Instruments. They are used mainly for speed, with very poor defense. When equipped, a Rosary appears as a string of magatama beads circling her neck; when used, it whips out a long chain of holy energy, slicing and quickly eradicating enemies. When attacking, Amaterasu will lash out with the Rosary, which slows slightly upon contacting a foe and delivers many hits very rapidly. The damage of an individual Rosary strike is a fraction of either the Reflector's or the Glaive's, but the overall damage potential is approximately the same because of the rapid attack rate. In fact, the attack rate means that rosaries can do even more damage than Reflectors or Glaives if used correctly. Attacks can be made at any time, but swings while in the air tend to be weaker and less consistent.
Tiers Of The Rosaries (Durations + Cooldowns Are The Same):
Tier 5 (Top Right): Devout Beads
Tier 4 (Top Left): Life Beads
Tier 3 (Bottom Right): Exorcism Beads
Tier 2 (Bottom Left): Resurrection Beads
Tier 1 (Center): Tundra Beads
Name: Glaive
Description: Glaives are the third class of Divine Instruments. They are the most powerful offensively, with an average defense and low speed. When equipped, it has the appearance of a large sword slung across her back, and spins in the air when swung. All main attacks of the various Glaives are identical apart from appearance of the weapon itself and the damage output. Thus they are not the ideal choice for combating flying enemies. The Glaive is a hold-and-release weapon, but can also do a quick combo attack if necessary. The damage potential of an uncharged Glaive is lower and less frequent than an equivalent Reflector; only by charging will Ammy release the full capabilities of this mighty weapon. This can make it a difficult weapon to use. Amaterasu will stand up stationary while charging for a strike, although the charge can be made and held in any position, including while jumping. If the charge is released while in the air, Amaterasu will dive downwards, hitting foes beneath and occasionally delivering multiple hits in the same swing. The Glaive has a long range when compared to the Reflector, although not so long when compared to the Rosary; it may hit more than one enemy at once when at close range. It is possible to continue moving around the arena while charging the Glaive, which can be extremely useful for preparation of the mighty attack soon to follow.
Tiers Of The Glaives (Durations + Cooldowns Are The Same Also):
Tier 5 (Top Right): Tsumugari
Tier 4 (Top Left): Seven Strike
Tier 3 (Mid Right): Blade of Kusanagi
Tier 2 (Mid Left): Eighth Wonder
Tier 1 (Bottom Center): Thunder Edge
Holy shite, that took too long. Yeah, the reason it took me two weeks to do that was because I scrapped a previous idea and had to rewrite this TWICE!! But yeah, I hope my fellow Okami fans that I've discovered today will see what I did thar. =)

- Spoiler:

- Spoiler:
- Spoiler:
- Spoiler:
Tier 4 (Top Left): Seven Strike
Tier 3 (Mid Right): Blade of Kusanagi
Tier 2 (Mid Left): Eighth Wonder
Tier 1 (Bottom Center): Thunder Edge
Holy shite, that took too long. Yeah, the reason it took me two weeks to do that was because I scrapped a previous idea and had to rewrite this TWICE!! But yeah, I hope my fellow Okami fans that I've discovered today will see what I did thar. =)
