Size: Large Metropolitan City
Building types: Victorian style buildings mixed with modern skyscrapers
Monuments: London Bridge, Buckingham Palace, London Tower, St. Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben, Parliament Building, London Eye, River of Themes, Historical/Science/Art museums, etc.
Supplementary description: London is a large city that also is it's own county with a county council as well as London Boroughs that act as Unitary Councils. The City is the shining star of the UK built on and around the river of Themes. The river flows through the southern portion of the city, though many creeks and canals have been built that stretch throughout the city.
The canals are built on a large system of levies and locks that allow boaters to raise or lower the water level in order to maneuver through the city waterways. Most of the boats are those belonging to restaurants. City goers if they so wished could catch a lovely lunch on a boat ride through the city canals, or, take a tour of the southern portion of the city on a large ferry down the river of Themes.
Off the water the city features many Victorian styles buildings, mixed in with modern taste. while the buildings are in the old Gothic Victorian style, the inside of every building (unless rundown which you might find on the outskirts of the city) has been refurbished and suits the modern age. In the more modern buildings, especially in central London you'll find a large use of long glass windows composing the building walls.
Southern/Central London features the more posh and well to do areas of town. Solace Square for example has one of the largest malls in London, also one of the most expensive, at the top of the ten story mall, you'll find the Skyline Cafe, where you can have lunch while looking out over all of London. Holborn and Oxford Circus of Central London also feature many high end cafes and shopping centers, this is where you'd buy your expensive clothing (etc) Southern London also homes most of the tourist sights including the bulk of the historical monuments and museums. Most museums in London are free, but also contain galleries to which you need to pay a small fee.
Northern London homes the artistic center of the city, along with most of the universities. One might notice places like Camden, where walking the streets of Camden vendors from all over the world (places like Malaysia and several other parts of southeast Asia, North and South Africa, all over the middle east, China, and South America.) There's also artists of every medium available, trying to sell their wares, from leather workers to painters and soap workers, antique sellers and spray paint artists, glass blowers etc.
East London although has many nice areas, also has a reputation for being the more rundown section of London. West London is much the same way due to most of east and west London are considered the outskirts of town with Central and South London encompass the bulk of London. The outskirts is where most people live since living further inside the city is very expensive.
Walking through London the sidewalks are thick and there is always constant traffic both on the sidewalks and street, even at night. Even though most shops close around 6pm people are always about in cars. No matter where you are in London, chances are you'll hear the sounds of the city- the rush and pattering of footsteps, the many cars passing by with the ever so occasional beep. Buses stopping and starting and a hub bub of voices. Every few blocks throughout the city there's usually a section or stretch of shops with streets for people only, blocked off from cars. They're usually large pathways inside the larger blocks of London to where many back alleys branch off.
________________________________________________________________________________
A man wearing a white button up shirt walked along the sidewalk with little care. He looked from behind his glasses as he would bump into the oncoming people on the same sidewalk and could not care less about them. He just kept walking forward as if on a misson and simple bumping wasn't going to stop him.
