Ashamed to be American?

I'm sure you all know about the quake/tsunami in japan. What really got me was the reaction that some "Americans" had. Readinf stuff like this really makes me ashamed to be called American.

Ill be honest, the first thing I thought of was, 'what about the mangaka?' then I thought, 'man, you suck, what about the normal people who're dead?' So...yeah...

In my life, I have learned the best thing to do is not even to acknowledge the existence of these primitives. Not that they should be allowed to do as they wish, but that by reacting to such idiocy, you only grant them the forum they hope for.

However, as a man of silver linings, I wanted to print something that I found in the comments after the article, it is from a comment made by Miroku74: (pardon any language but it's taken as a direct quote)

Anyway, I don't think I can put it any better than Haji. He made the point about lost faith in the human race, and I couldn't agree more. The only question I have is, how can you ignore their existence when you are surrounded by them? Sadly they are everywhere...
